Students in Mrs. Hendrix's class had a sweet start to their Thanksgiving break. As part of their nonfiction unit on inventors, students read about Ruth Wakefield, the inventor of the chocolate chip cookie. As part of their lesson, they got to enjoy Ruth's sweet success, thanks to parent Lindsey Nix, who donated the cookies for the lesson.

Kindergarten celebrated Thanksgiving today!

Check out the upcoming dress up days!

Mrs. Hendrix- 4th grade - Students wrote about what "6-7" means and we got some interesting responses! Students also each received a certificate documenting that they are "67 days smarter!" (Thanks to Lindsey Nix for helping print these out!).

Mr. Piteo's class was honored recently at the Jefferson County Exceptional Education Art Show. Out of hundreds of pieces of art submitted for the 2025-2026 Art Show, theirs was chosen as one of the Best in Show. Congratulations to Mr. Piteo's students and the paras for their hard work at creating a great piece of art for the show.

Israel Wooten and Gavin Cruse (and former MOE student Julianna Cruse) had the honor of meeting New York Times bestselling author Alan Gratz at the Homewood Public Library! He was a fabulous speaker! He gave us insights into his work and tips for becoming a professional writer! Thanks to Homewood Public Library for sponsoring this FREE event!

Congratulations to our 1st and 2nd grade students, teachers and Mrs. Adams for a great evening honoring our veterans! Happy Veterans Day!
