👋 Hey JEFCOED Family! This is a friendly reminder that all schools and offices will be closed Monday September 7, 2026, for Labor Day, and that Tuesday, September 8, 2026, is an E-Learning Day for students.
We look forward to seeing everyone back in class on Wednesday, September 9, 2026!

Kindergarten through first grade students proudly recognized for receiving Positive Office Referrals during the month of August. Their outstanding behavior, kindness, leadership, and positive choices helped make our school a great place to learn!

Give Hope Day!
Give Hope Day is an annual childhood cancer awareness initiative organized by the Hope for Autumn Foundation. It began in 2015 and has grown into Alabama’s largest organized childhood cancer awareness event. JEFCOED has been participating in it since 2021. On Thursday, September 24, students and staff are invited to wear gold to honor children battling cancer and help raise awareness of the urgent need for childhood cancer research and family resources.
Participating schools may also share photos and messages of support on social media using #GiveHope2026, create cards for patients at Children’s of Alabama, or organize other simple acts of encouragement. Participation is completely optional, and schools that would like gold bows or yard signs may contact Hope For Autumn's Executive Director Amanda Knerr at amandaknerr@hopeforautumnfoundation.org. Clear this through your principal before contacting Amanda.

Preparing the next generation of educators! 📚💙
Last night, we welcomed students and families to Center Point High School for the UAB-JEFCOED Teacher Academy open house! Members of our JEFCOED Family learned all about the magnet program, toured the wing that will house the Teacher Academy, and even got to meet some of the program’s educators.
We’re beyond excited that students will not only have the chance to gain valuable experience in the field of education, but also complete a significant portion of their college degree at no cost. The future of education is bright — and it’s being developed right here at JEFCOED!
