I am so incredibly thankful for the opportunity to travel to Montgomery today and represent the Alabama Art Education Association, Jefferson County Schools, Jefferson County Department of Arts Education, and McCalla Elementary at Governor Ivey’s Arts Education Month Proclamation signing in the Old House Chamber.

It was truly an honor to be part of this special celebration of the arts in Alabama, surrounded by members of so many amazing arts organizations from across the state!

A heartfelt thank you to my AAEA Board President for giving me this amazing opportunity, to my administrators for allowing me to attend, and to my Visual Art Supervisor for joining me today. I am so grateful for all of your support!

Next week is Read Across America and we are in our Patriotic Era! Help us celebrate 250 years of America as we read across our great nation. We will share a list of read alouds for each day next week that you can share with your family.

We are excited to share that several of our talented students have had their artwork accepted into the 2025-2026 Virtual Art Competition of Alabama! This is a huge accomplishment and a wonderful recognition of their creativity and hard work. Winners will receive a congratulatory letter from the Alabama Art Education Association President and a Visual Arts Competition of Alabama certificate. ⭐️ Pre-k applications for next year are open until Sunday, February 22nd!! ⭐️ Application Period: Start Date: Thursday, January 15, 2026 End Date: Sunday, February 22, 2026 Please note that enrollment in the Pre-K Program is based on a random selection drawing, and applications for the drawing must be submitted by February 22, 2026. After this date, you can still apply to be placed on the waiting list. All public drawings will be held at the Jefferson County Board of Education. Our Fine Arts Night has been a success! Thank you to the families who came out to support our students, the food trucks who came out to feed us, and the talented students who provided art and entertainment for the night.
