SARAH THOMPSON,  Assistant Principal.  I am thrilled to be joining Oak Grove as an assistant principal this year!  I have 18 years of teaching experience.  When I’m not at school, I love spending time with my grandchildren.
ELI MUSSO,  6th Grade History.  This will be my first year teaching. I recently graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) with a degree in education and History. I’ll be teaching 6th grade Social Studies, as well as coaching football and wrestling.  Outside of school, I’m engaged to my fiancée, Katelyn Glass, and we’re looking forward to getting married soon. I’m passionate about helping students develop a love for history while creating a positive and engaging classroom environment.
KALLI NORRIS,  6th Grade English.  I am so excited to join the sixth grade team for my first year teaching! I graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in May of this year. I am married to Peyton Norris, and we live in the Rock Creek area. We have the sweetest, most energetic GSP and her name is Annie. Again, I am so excited to be back at OGHS!
ANGEL POER, 7th Grade English.  This will be my 8th year of teaching. I have taught English Language Arts, Theatre, Reading, and Creative Writing as well as being a Head Tennis Coach and a Drama Director. I graduated from UAB with a Bachelor’s degree in English and a Master’s degree in Secondary Education.  I am married with 3 children. My oldest son will be starting at the University of West Alabama this fall to study Aerospace Engineering. My daughter will begin 6th grade at JCIB, and my youngest son will be starting 4th grade at Oak Grove Elementary. I am very excited to begin the new school year!
DAVID LEE,  8th Grade History.  I am entering my 20th year teaching and coaching and first at Oak Grove. I have a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations from UAB, a bachelor’s degree in Education from UAB, and have my Master’s in Sports Administration from Jacksonville State. Most recently I taught History and was the Athletic Director, Head Middle School Football Coach at Helena Middle School and coached Wide Receivers and Defensive Backs at Helena High School. My wife Candice and I have been married for 28 years. We have two sons, Andrew (25) and Cameron (20). Andrew and his wife Lanie are expecting their first child in November.
NYIA WESTBROOK,  8th Grade Math.  I’m excited to be joining Oak Grove as the new 8th Grade Math teacher. This is my first official year as a classroom teacher. I graduated from Miles College with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. I am passionate about helping students build confidence in math, think critically, and reach their full potential. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy photography, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. I also look forward to coaching volleyball and softball.  I’m excited to become part of the Oak Grove family and can’t wait for a wonderful school year!
BRANDI MASON,  Exceptional Education.  I have proudly called Oak Grove home with my husband, Aaron, for the past 19 years, and I am honored to teach in the community where my family and I live. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Collaborative Special Education (K–12) from the University of West Alabama and am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Special Education (6–12). My son, Sterling, is a senior at Oak Grove High School, and my daughter, Laikyn, is in fifth grade. I am passionate about helping every student grow, succeed, and feel supported both in and out of the classroom.
ALEXIS WILLIAMS,  Exceptional Education.  I’ve taught Physical Education for 20 years at the elementary, middle, and high school level. I have my Bachelors in Physical Education from UAB and my Masters in Special Education from University of West Alabama. I have been married to my husband Chris for 19 years. My husband is a student pastor at Maytown Baptist. We have two children Bristol is 11 and Oliver is 9.
ELLIS LANDERS,  Assistant Band Director.  I’m super excited to be joining the team here and can’t wait to get to know you all! A little background on me: I’ve been teaching for the past six years.  Over that time, I’ve taught 5th through 12th graders a bit of everything, from beginner and advanced band classes to music tech, AP music theory, and composition.  I’m looking forward to a great year ahead and making some awesome music together. If you see me around, please stop by and say hi!
