Congratulations to our Science Olympiad team! On Saturday, February 8, 2025 sixteen JCIB students competed at UAB in 23 events across different science and engineering disciplines. Students earned 4th place overall in the region and have advanced to the state finals. Below are students who won individual medals at the regional level. 8th grade students in Ms. Durham's class are using the physical properties of density and buoyancy to determine if their boats will float or sink with the pennies!

Another successful JCIB Poetry Slam! Our students were risk-takers by performing their original poetry in front of the whole school. We are so proud of all of you!

This morning, the Alabama Department of Education approved a resolution recognizing Dr. Walter B. Gonsoulin, Jr. as the 2025 Alabama Superintendent of the Year!! Dr. Gonsoulin serves State School Board Districts Three, Four, and Seven with heart, vision, and determination. We couldn't be prouder of his leadership. Congratulations, Dr. Gonsoulin! Ms. Kelsey Brown hosted a book tasting for her 7th graders this week! Students got to try a variety of novels in verse while visiting the "coffee shop." At JCIB, we are open-minded about trying new things!
