NATIONAL CUSTODIAN DAY Today, we proudly celebrate our HMS custodial team: Ms. Juanita Smith, Head Custodian, Breanna “Bree” Carson, and Sanford “Sam” Wright! Their work may often happen behind the scenes, but the difference they make is seen and felt throughout Hueytown Middle School every day. They work hard to keep our school clean, safe, and ready for learning, while demonstrating what it means to Protect the P.A.W. Thank you, Ms. Smith, Bree, and Sam, for your hard work, dedication, and care for our Panther family! Panther Family, help us show our custodial team some love today! One School. One Culture. THE PANTHER WAY | HABIT 1: BE PROACTIVE
This week, our Panthers learned about proactive and reactive language and how changing the way we speak can help change the way we respond.
Habit 1, Be Proactive, teaches students that they may not control everything that happens around them, but they can control their choices, their words, and how they respond. One simple strategy is:
Pause. Think. Choose.
Families can reinforce Habit 1 at home by talking about the difference between what we can control and what we cannot control.
Ask Your Panther:
What is something you cannot control, and what can you control about how you respond?
One School. One Culture. One PAW Print.
