Mrs. Martin's FACS class has been learning about the stages of life, housing and interiors, their personal roles and responsibilities at home and in the community, dealing with stress, ways to establish boundaries, and how to communicate effectively in various situations. Students are also working on interpersonal and professional skills, such as giving a proper handshake when introducing themselves to others.
Mrs. Martin's Event Planning and Management class has been busy researching local charities in Gardendale and Jefferson County, selecting one to create a themed mock charity event, and presenting informal proposals to a panel of clients for feedback and "Yelp" reviews. At the request of several students, Quin Pearson from Huntingdon College joined us to share insights on how their business program prepares students for a career in event planning. We thank him for making the drive to answer questions about their Business program.
Ms. Mitchell's classes have been buys with "Round Robin Reading" this week!
Coach Ingram's PE classes learned about badminton and competed in a tournament during 1st and 4th block!

Mr. Carnall's Anatomy student have been diving into the sheep brain dissection during their nervous system chapter. Forensics students have been learning how a crime scene is set up and what to do with the evidence found. Sports Medicine students have been assessing athletic functional movement to decrease probability of injury.
Mr. Cassidy's Algebra 1 students study by playing Space Battle with linear equations.
Mrs. Gooch's 2nd period AP Psychology class has been raising egg babies for the last two weeks. They had to apply developmental concepts to their experiences and had to complete a family planning report to help them grasp the financial responsibilities of raising a child.
Mr. New's 9th grade Biology students have extracted DNA from strawberries this week.
