They did it!! Students from Ms. Wilcox’s AP Biology class collaborated with researchers at Towson University in Baltimore to design and conduct an experiment investigating how salt tolerances may impact where three small anemone species found in the Chesapeake Bay choose to live. To accomplish this, they developed new marine aquaculture skills, as well as experimental design and data analysis skills. Five of the students traveled to Mobile, Alabama to present their results at the 2025 Benthic Ecology Meeting, a professional conference for research scientists. We couldn’t be more proud of their effort and follow-through! Go Cougars!

These students passed the National Certification Exam through the NHA to become certified as CPhTs (Certified Pharmacy Technicians). Being able to pass this exam takes such grit, critical thinking, and the ability to apply the information in real scenarios. These students are now ready to work in the retail or hospital pharmacy settings as soon as they graduate. Congratulations to them all. We are so proud of them and the teachers that helped them prepare!

Mrs. Toves' AP Chemistry students went into the lab to investigate the effects of concentration on the rate of reactions. They performed multiple trials to determine average rate for the reaction at different concentrations. The lab skills they are developing will help them make qualifying scores on their AP exam in May and excel in any future science classes. We are excited to see where they go from here!

It's the beginning of a new semester and CCHS is starting the new year with professional development for our teachers. One of our sessions was lead by three of our student leaders (with some help from Ms. Lopresti). These students discussed building a positive environment at CCHS and some awesome new initiatives! What a great way to start a new semester! We're excited to see the rest of our students on Wednesday morning!
