HAPPY NEW YEAR🎊Welcome back!! We had some awesome professional development on Monday with Bloom training, which is Jefcoed’s new discipline platform. We also had our middle of the year data meetings, Equity of Effort/Clarifying Terms PD, Intentional Grouping, Defining Vocabulary Jigsaw, Sharing Terms Discussions, and Equity, Equality, Removing Barriers through Equitable Practices PD. We are ready to see everyone tomorrow! Let’s get it POPPIN’!

Thank you, Mayor Cooper, for rewarding the teachers with the classes that had the most growth in iReady reading and math! In K-2nd grade, Ms. Andrea Burnett’s kindergarten class showed the most growth in iReady reading AND math. In 3rd-5th grade, Mrs. Anetra Thrash’s 4th grade class showed the most growth in iReady reading AND math. Brighton’s Mayor, Eddie Cooper, gifted both teachers with two gift cards each! This morning, the Alabama Department of Education approved a resolution recognizing Dr. Walter B. Gonsoulin, Jr. as the 2025 Alabama Superintendent of the Year!! Dr. Gonsoulin serves State School Board Districts Three, Four, and Seven with heart, vision, and determination. We couldn't be prouder of his leadership. Congratulations, Dr. Gonsoulin! American Education Week wraps up by recognizing Substitute Educators Day. Substitute Educators Day was established by The National Education Association (NEA). The event occurs the Friday before Thanksgiving each year and highlights the important role substitute teachers play in education. In 2024, the day was Friday, November 22nd. At Brighton School, our substitute teachers play a very vital role in our school day success. We have dedicated sub teachers who have been a part of the Brighton family for years. We caught a few smiling subs this week but we want to show that we appreciate them all. Did anyone else see the flock of Canadian geese on Brighton School’s campus Thursday and Friday mornings? Did you notice how they were on time for school? They were part of the BRIGHT in Brighton! ❤️🐻⭐️ #attendancematters @jefcoed

We would like to give a special shout out to our 2nd grade teachers, students, and families for still having the best attendance percentage so far! It has actually improved since the last time!🎉🎉🎉 This means 2nd grade has the most students coming to school each day!💯 Do you want to know how to help the other grades improve their attendance rate? Bring your student to school each day next week (unless they are sick)!🤗 ✨️We do have other grades that have improved! 1st Grade - 3.45% decrease 3rd Grade - 7.14% decrease 4th Grade - 4% decrease 5th Grade - 3.78% decrease ‼️Our school's chronic absenteeism rate is steadily decreasing, too! Thank you families!🤗
