Pinson Valley High School proudly hosted an engaging, all-day Black History Program, celebrating the richness and diversity of Black culture through arts, history, and tradition. Students experienced rotating stations highlighting the powerful beginnings of African heritage, the evolution of Black hair and fashion, the influence of music and visual arts, and the lasting impact of Black Greek-letter organizations.
From interactive displays to live performances and cultural showcases, the day was designed to educate, empower, and inspire!

McAdory Middle School’s Black History Month program, “It’s a Different World,” was a stunning celebration of the history, culture, and traditions of Black Americans!
Through their performances, students shared the stories of famous Black inventors, honored the lives of Civil Rights heroes, and celebrated the significance of Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
Seeing these intentional and passionate performances was a true gift. Thank you, McAdory Middle, for such an incredible program!👏

A new era begins for Jefferson County International Baccalaureate School!🎉 Today, Superintendent Dr. Walter Gonsoulin cut the ribbon on the new JCIB facility. Lipscomb Elementary School students were in the spotlight this week!🤩 They filmed a commercial showcasing the brand-new equipment purchased through JEFCOED’s Blue Cross Blue Shield Be Healthy Grant!🎉🏋️♀️
These students were all smiles as they demonstrated their exercises for the camera crew. Stay tuned to see the finished product and to learn more about the positive impact this grant is having!

Today we celebrated Career and Technical Education Month by holding our board meeting at Mortimer Jordan High School. During the meeting, Bobby Jackson, our Director of Career and Technical Education, did a phenomenal job sharing the achievements and growth happening within our CTE programs. Our district leaders also had the privilege of enjoying delicious meals prepared and served by Culinary Arts students from Center Point High School, Pinson Valley High School, and Mortimer Jordan High School!
It was a true honor to see our students showcase the valuable skills they’re learning through our CTE Pathways. They are thriving in these programs and will continue to accomplish big things!

Dr. Gonsoulin opened the Imagine Learning Annual Summit this morning, highlighting how Jefferson County Schools proves public education opens doors daily. Grateful for our partnership with Imagine Learning to expand opportunities for every student!

From student performances to powerful speeches, Fultondale High School’s Black History Month program was full of energy and inspiration! As we celebrate a century of Black History commemorations, our JEFCOED Family continues to make their own historic contributions, and it was an honor to hear some of these stories yesterday.
