🎭Students took center stage at Minor Community School today!🎭
Kennedy Center-trained teaching artists visited each grade level, sharing a variety of theatre techniques with our scholars! In these photos, students are creating tableaus—still, silent scenes that tell a story.
These engaging lessons allowed students to use their imaginations and explore the many different ways we can deliver a message.
Thank you to each artist who came out today! We appreciate you for sharing your skills with our students!👏

🧯🚒 Fire Prevention Week is the perfect time to ensure your child knows how to prevent fires and what to do if one breaks out!🧯🚒
This week, 5th graders at Irondale Community School practiced these skills during Kitchen Safety Day. The Irondale Fire Department taught students life-saving information, including how to properly use a fire extinguisher. We appreciate these firefighters for showing students how to react calmly and safely in the event of an emergency!

We appreciate each student who attended our first Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council meeting of the year! During these meetings, student representatives from throughout our district participate in thought-provoking conversations with Dr. Gonsoulin. These discussions are invaluable and allow us to continue growing as a district. Thank you again to everyone who participated!

Today is School Custodian Appreciation Day, and we hope you'll join us in celebrating our outstanding custodians here at JEFCOED!🎉
These heroes not only ensure students and teachers spend their days in clean, safe environments, but also spread positivity throughout their schools. We appreciate all they do to help our district thrive! When you see your school custodian today, be sure to tell them thank you!

How precious are these little vaqueros and vaqueras!❤️🤠 As Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations continue, students at Brighton School honored the rich traditions of the original cowboys and cowgirls of the Americas. Dressed in outfits inspired by this heritage, they joyfully celebrated the significant impact vaqueros and vaqueras had on ranching culture in the American West!

Good things happening!🤩👏 Members of JEFCOED’s Technology Department recently attended the Alabama Leaders in Educational Technology Fall Symposium! Several of our team members gave presentations during the conference, and Technology Coaches Delfreda Coleman and Aakre Mahan were honored for completing their Alabama Technology Integration Coach Certification!🎉 We’re so proud of this group and appreciate all they do to help our district run smoothly!

It was an action-packed Friday at JCIB! The school's grade vs. grade soccer tournament for Hispanic Heritage Month got underway!⚽️🎉 Each grade has been assigned a country from Latin America to represent in the tournament. Friday, the freshmen and sophomores faced off, representing Mexico and Venezuela! The next game will feature juniors vs. seniors! We can’t wait to see which grade will win it all!

It’s gameday in Gardendale and the Rockets brought the hype ahead of kickoff!🎉🚀 We’re just hours away from our Game of the Week! Who’s excited?!🏈🤩

When learning continues outside the classroom, we’re all JEFCOED strong!👏📚
We appreciate each family and educator who attended Center Point Elementary's Get the Scoop on Literacy and Numeracy event! Parents received crucial information regarding the Alabama Literacy Act, and learned new methods to help students build reading and math skills at home! Thank you to everyone who made this evening a success!

The Jefferson County Board of Education is proud to partner with the Hope for Autumn Foundation once again for Give Hope Day!💛🎗️We’ve loved seeing our JEFCOED family decked out in their gold and yellow! Today and everyday, let’s stand behind those who are fighting childhood cancer.

It takes team work to ensure students are in school each and every day! We love that Lipscomb Elementary School not only celebrated students who had perfect attendance for the first 20 days of school, but also celebrated their parents!🎉 Dedication in the classroom deserves recognition! Way to go, everyone!👏

You don’t have to go far to find inspiration!🚒📚
Last week, kindergartners at Gardendale Elementary School took a Community Helpers Field Trip, learning all about the different jobs that keep the City of Gardendale running! They spoke with firefighters and police officers, visited the Gardendale Public Library and met Mayor Hogeland!
We appreciate everyone who took the time to speak with these classes! What a fun experience!

Mortimer Jordan's hospitality class was hard at

Students made garlic cheese biscuits that look
AMAZING! If they ever need volunteer taste-testers,

Then and now! 💛 Thank you to McAdory High School graduate, Janice Rogers for serving as grand marshal at McAdory's homecoming parade! The jackets were buzzing with pride to have such a beloved alum take on this role! The first photo is of Janice attending homecoming as a student, and the second is her leading the parade on Thursday!

Last week, Mortimer Jordan High School hosted kindergartners from Warrior Elementary and Bryan Elementary for a pep rally! One of our favorite interactions from the day happened during a new tradition, where seniors and kindergartners exchanged letters. The 12th graders gave words of encouragement and advice in their letters, and the kindergartners shared precious notes filled with drawings! This was such a touching moment. Thank you, MJHS for creating unforgettable memories for these students!
