This morning, students, community leaders, and JEFCOED Superintendent Dr. Walter Gonsoulin gathered at Shades Valley High School to remember the lives changed forever on September 11, 2001.

The annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremony, presented by the Shades Valley MCJROTC, brought together JROTC students from Shades Valley, Pinson Valley, and Clay-Chalkville high schools for a heartfelt and touching ceremony. Through the presentation of the colors, moving speeches, and the laying of flowers, they honored the heroes of 9/11 and those who continue to serve our nation.

The theme for this school year, "Realizing our Potential, Redefining the Standard,” is all about acknowledging and appreciating our progress, while setting even bigger goals and raising the bar. Today, our faculty and staff gathered in one place to do exactly this. Together, we celebrated past wins and set the stage for a successful school year ahead.
