Pinson Valley High School Family,

As you probably have heard, Principal Michael Turner is leaving PVHS.  He was appointed interim superintendent of Bessemer City Schools Tuesday night.  We sincerely appreciate Mr. Turner’s efforts in leading Pinson Valley High for the last decade.  As a superintendent, you always want your administrators to continue to grow, and this is the next logical step for him.  I am proud of Mr. Turner and wish him nothing but success in his new position.

This afternoon, I met with the faculty and staff at Pinson Valley High to outline our plans for the coming months.  As I told them, we will immediately begin the search for a new principal.  We hope to name this individual as soon as possible, but we also want to be thorough in our efforts.  In the interim, Mr. Steve Shankles will serve as administrative liaison.  He will be supported by the three assistant principals and will be in constant communication with Area Director Dr. Anna Vacca.  Mr. Shankles has served in this capacity at several JEFCOED schools, and you are in great hands.

Pinson Valley High School has many wonderful things happening.  Please trust us to find a leader who will build on this success.  We are committed to finding the right person with the vision to lead the school forward in this next chapter.

Sincerely,

Dr. Walter Gonsoulin

Superintendent
