We are excited to share that Mr. Cedric Buchannon has been selected to serve as McAdory High School's new principal.
With more than 15 years of experience in education, school leadership, and student development, he brings a passion for academic excellence, positive school culture, and student success.
Mr. Buchannon earned an Educational Specialist degree and a Master of Education in Instructional Leadership from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, as well as bachelor's degrees in Secondary Education and Political Science from Miles College.
Prior to joining McAdory High School, Mr. Buchannon served as 9th-grade principal at Hoover High School, where he oversaw student achievement, school operations, safety, facilities, and staff development. His leadership experience also includes serving as assistant principal at Minor High School and holding teaching and leadership positions at Irondale Middle School, Rutledge Middle School, and Riggins Alternative School.
A veteran of the United States Navy, Mr. Buchannon served aboard the USS Enterprise as an Operational Specialist and Air Controller. Throughout his career, he has been committed to building strong relationships, supporting educators, and creating opportunities for all students to achieve their fullest potential. He is excited to partner with students, staff, families, and the community as he leads McAdory High School into a future of excellence and achievement.
