Jefferson County Schools will once again offer free breakfast and lunch to all students enrolled in in-person learning. JEFCOED has qualified as a Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) district for the 2026-2027 school year, which allows us to provide this service to our families.

“The continuation of this program allows us to remove a barrier for our students. Children need healthy meals to learn. By continuing this program for the third straight year it ensures that all students will have the nourishment they need to focus effectively in the classroom,” said Dr. Walter Gonsoulin, Superintendent of Jefferson County Schools.

CEP is a key provision of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010, which allows schools and school districts in low-income areas to eliminate school meal applications and serve breakfast and lunch at no charge to all enrolled students. CEP gives food service professionals more time to focus on preparing nutritious meals that their students will enjoy and gives students more time to eat those meals by cutting down on time spent in the lunch line.
