🎉 Exciting new opportunity for Hueytown High School graduates! 🎓 Patrick Duke, a proud 1994 alum, has launched the "For Htown — Class of 1994" Auburn University engineering scholarship.
This initiative empowers future graduates to create a legacy of opportunity through endowed scholarships, giving Hueytown students the resources they need to pursue their dreams of higher education. Let's celebrate this opportunity to uplift our community! 💪

Graduation will be held at the BJCC Concert Hall on May 19th, 2025 at 10:00am. Graduates must arrive no later than 8:30am. Doors will open at 9:00am.



Many of us went to sleep on Thursday night, thinking it wouldn't happen after all. And then it did!! Hueytown High School Career Tech students pampered Board of Education employees with an unforgettable Day of Relaxation before the holiday rush! 💆🏻♀️🧖🏻♀️✨🌿
Cosmetology students showcased their skills by offering manicures💅, as well as hand, foot, and neck massages. Meanwhile, culinary arts students catered for the event, providing delicious treats and beverages to enjoy during our services.👩🏽🍳🍴
Thank you to these fantastic students and their instructors for bringing relaxation and joy to the Jefferson County Board of Education.











Huge shoutout to our student-athletes and coaches for their incredible performance in the North/South All-Star game at Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile, Alabama! 🙌 It was an exciting matchup showcasing the best talent from around the state, and we’re thrilled to announce that our North All-Stars triumphed with a score of 45-24! 🎉🥇 Way to go, team!

This morning, the Alabama Department of Education approved a resolution recognizing Dr. Walter B. Gonsoulin, Jr. as the 2025 Alabama Superintendent of the Year!! Dr. Gonsoulin serves State School Board Districts Three, Four, and Seven with heart, vision, and determination. We couldn't be prouder of his leadership.

Halloween magic from last week's Monster Mash!🎃🕸️ The spooky moves hit the dance floor for JEFCOED’s annual Halloween-themed dance. Middle and high school students with disabilities gathered from across the district, dressed up in their favorite Halloween costumes, and let loose on the dance floor! 🏆Big shout-out to the two costume winners, Michael Hollie from Hueytown High School (rock-n-roll guitarist) and Cur'niah Sigler from Rudd Middle (70s peace & love).

We're calling on everyone to 🌟WEAR GOLD🌟 as we stand together to honor and raise awareness for children and families affected by childhood cancer. 💛Together, we can make a difference!


Congratulations to Dr. Walter Gonsoulin on being named the 2025 District 5 Superintendent of the Year by the School Superintendents of Alabama. Dr. Gonsoulin works tirelessly to expand opportunities for all students, and this recognition reflects his outstanding leadership and dedication to public education.
The statewide winner will be announced in March 2025. We wish Dr. Gonsoulin the best of luck as he continues championing educational excellence!
