#GoodThingsHappening!💙 We are thrilled to share that more than two dozen JEFCOED schools earned the Environmental Protection Agency's ENERGY STAR Certification! To earn this honor, these schools had to have an ENERGY STAR score of at least 75, meaning they run at least 75% more efficiently than similar buildings across the country.

We are SO excited to share that the Jefferson County School District has been awarded the Blue Cross Blue Shield Be Healthy Grant for the VERY first time!🎉👏 Mr. Christopher Reeves, Physical Education Supervisor for Jefferson County Schools, says, “This is a meaningful moment for our district, as it reflects the dedication of so many who believe in the power of physical education to shape healthier lives for our students.” Mr. Reeves adds that this grant will provide everything from exercise bikes to agility ladders, benefiting and inspiring students and educators. It’s not every day you get to meet an Olympian!⛷️🥇 This week, Picabo Street, three-time Olympian and gold and silver medalist, video chatted with enrichment classes at Corner Middle School!
These students have been learning how skiers use chemistry in their sport, and had great discussions with Picabo about her career and the science behind her events! They also got to hear about her future plans, which include commentating for NBC on all the Women's Olympic Skiing events in the upcoming Winter Olympics. We appreciate Picabo so much for taking the time to speak with these students!
