Ms. McIntyre’s 8th grade ELA and Advanced English classes welcomed a very special guest to the classroom this week. Kenny W. Keith of Starnes, Davis, & Florie LLP of Birmingham dedicated her time and litigation expertise to judge mock trials and sharpen students’ persuasive skills. ELA students have been working diligently to craft argumentative essays and mock trial presentations to closely examine the narrator in Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Tell-Tale Heart.”

Bus Safety Tips from CCMS

Safety on the school bus is very important. Please review these simple rules with your student to keep everyone safe.

At the Bus Stop

* Arrive at the stop five minutes early.
* Stand back at least three big steps from the curb.
* Wait for the bus to come to a complete stop before moving toward it.

On the Bus

* Sit down quickly and face forward.
* Keep the aisle clear of backpacks and feet.
* Talk quietly so the driver can focus on the road.
* Keep your hands, arms, and head inside the windows.

Leaving the Bus

* Wait for the bus to stop completely before standing up.
* Use the handrail when getting off.
* Look both ways before crossing the street.
* Never walk behind the bus.

Thank you for helping us keep our students safe every day.

FUTURE HEALTHCARE HEROES IN TRAINING AT CCMS! Our first nine weeks at CCMS Hospital have been filled with creativity, hands-on learning, and a little something sweet! Who knew you could build a heart out of candy or use boba drinks to explain blood circulation? Our Health Science students did just that while exploring the cardiovascular system, learning medical terminology, and applying science and math in creative ways! From edible labs to practicing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) procedures, our students have been learning by doing! We even dressed for success during Professional Dress Day, giving our future healthcare professionals a glimpse into the professional world! COUGAR NATION, HERE’S A CHALLENGE! Ask a CCMS Health Science student what “cardi” means or how blood flows through the heart. You might be surprised by what they can teach YOU! At CCMS Hospital, we don’t just study the HEART. We lead with HEART! And we’re just getting started! #BigClay #CCMSHospital #HealthScience #LeadingWithHEART

BIG DISCOVERIES ARE HAPPENING IN 7TH GRADE SCIENCE AT CCMS! What happens when you place gummy bears in different liquids? And what does an amoeba look like under a microscope? Just ask Mrs. Hall’s 7th grade scientists! Our young scientists have been busy putting their curiosity to the test! Through hands-on experiments, students explored how different liquids affect gummy bears, making observations and discovering how science explains changes in everyday objects. But the discoveries didn’t stop there! Students also got an up-close look at amoebas under the microscope, exploring a microscopic world that can’t be seen with the naked eye! Who knew gummy bears and microscopic organisms could make science so exciting? At Clay-Chalkville Middle School, learning goes beyond textbooks. It’s about asking questions, making discoveries, and experiencing science firsthand. Great job, Mrs. Hall and our future scientists! Keep exploring, questioning, and discovering! #CCMSCougars #ScienceInAction #HandsOnLearning #CougarPride

DISNEY MAGIC TOOK OVER COUGAR COUNTRY! Who needs a trip to Disney World when the magic comes right to Clay-Chalkville Middle School? Thursday’s Homecoming Week celebration turned our hallways into a world of imagination, laughter, and unforgettable characters! We had Mickey Mouse, Princess Tiana, Pumbaa from The Lion King, Spider-Man, and even a unicorn! And let’s not forget all the Minnie Mouse ears, polka dots, and creative outfits that brought our Disney-inspired day to life! Our students and staff understood the assignment, and the results were nothing short of magical! From superheroes to princesses and everything in between, our Cougars reminded us that a little creativity and a whole lot of school spirit can make an ordinary Thursday extraordinary! COUGAR NATION, NOW IT’S YOUR TURN! If you could bring ANY Disney character to CCMS for a day, who would it be? Take a look at our magical Cougars and tell us which character made you smile! At CCMS, we don’t just make memories. We make a little magic along the way! #BigClay #CougarPride #CCMSHomecoming #DisneyDay
