Greeted by smiling faces and the waving of American flags, Gov. Kay Ivey delivered an inspiring message to students at Pleasant Grove Elementary School during their patriotic assembly.
During her speech on Wednesday, the governor encouraged students to chase their dreams and treat others with respect.
“How do we honor those who came before us and those who serve today? By being strong stewards of our great nation,” Ivey said. “To be a strong steward of our nation, you have to be a strong student first. And while making good grades is important, that's not what being a good student is all about.”
The governor said being a good student is also about helping others and showing kindness. She left students with encouraging words, telling them their actions now will set them up for a successful future.
“When you're strong students, you will grow into strong citizens. The kind of men and women who will lead our state and our country for the next 250 years and beyond,” Ivey said.
The governor was joined by several other distinguished guests on Wednesday. We appreciate our local and community leaders for attending this assembly and supporting our JEFCOED family.
