This week, the City of Center Point hosted its annual Education Emphasis Luncheon in partnership with the Center Point Area Chamber of Commerce. The event served as a celebration of the progress being made in the Center Point school feeder pattern and as a reminder of the critical role community partnerships play in supporting student success.
Principals from each of the four schools in the Center Point area — Center Point Elementary, Erwin Intermediate, Erwin Middle, and Center Point High — shared updates highlighting encouraging trends in school report card performance, improved attendance rates, and academic growth.
They celebrated the Class of 2025, showcasing several outstanding Center Point High School graduates. Attendees heard about some of the school's top performers and their post-graduate plans. Additionally, several students were presented with scholarships.
Another highlight of the day came when Mayor Bobby Scott Jr. and the Center Point Area Chamber presented Dr. Walter Gonsoulin Jr. with a resolution and key to the city in recognition of his being named the 2025 National Superintendent of the Year.
We're grateful to the many community members, parents, teachers, area leaders, and businesses who attended the luncheon. Your continued support is essential as we work together to move our schools forward!
