Weekly Announcements - Week of 2/27 to 3/3

COVID-19

***Updates***

COVID-19 positive students will follow these procedures:

  • Must be isolated for at least 5 days after symptoms first appear or 5 days from the test date for asymptomatic individuals
  • Must be fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications at the end of the 5 day period
  • Improvement of all other symptoms
  • Upon returning to school, the student must wear a mask for at least 5 days.

If the above criteria are not met, the student should isolate for the remaining five days.

Students who have not tested positive for COVID-19 or are not symptomatic should attend school.

HMS After School Tutoring

After-School Tutoring will be facilitated Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week from 3:10PM-4:10PM. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. May.

 

HMS ACAP Math Experience

All HMS students will participate in HMS ACAP Math Experience on Wednesday, March 1st. Students will navigate through all mathematical resources that will assist them in preparation for our upcoming ACAP test. ACAP Experience will be facilitated through 1st period classes. 

Health Hero Immunization Clinic for 6th Grade Students

Attention Parents of 6th Graders: If you would like for your child to participate in the Health Hero Immunizations, please return the consent forms by Thursday, March 2nd to Nurse Childs. The immunizations will be facilitated on campus, Monday, March 6th.

Student ID Badges/Chromebooks 

All HMS students will/have received an ID badge and chromebook. Parents, students are expected to have their ID badges and chromebooks daily. Per new district guidelines, once a student loses or damages his/her chromebook, a replacement will not be issued. Students will only be allowed to use a chromebook in the classroom. Parents may donate the price of the chromebook for replacement. 

 

Bullying 

Parents, HMS bullying reporting forms are available with our counselors. When a student notifies a teacher or staff member at HMS regarding bullying, the student will be directed to complete the bullying reporting form and submit it to their assigned counselor. 

 

HMS Bathroom Schedule

Due to inappropriate behaviors and vandalism in the restrooms, we will be facilitating a bathroom schedule for all students. Parents, students will have the opportunity to use the restroom in a clean environment.  Students will have the opportunity to use the restroom outside of the bathroom schedule should emergencies arise.

-Students who are on “Grade Level” on iReady Winter Diagnostic 

-Students who made “Stretch Growth” on iReady Winter Diagnostic

**Exemptions from “A Core Specific” 3rd Qtr Common Assessments 

-Received an “A” for the 3rd Nine Weeks in the Core Class

-Perfect attendance in the core class with 70% average for the 3rd Nine Weeks 

 

Reminders

**Students are expected to be dropped off and picked up on the side of the building, not the main entrance. Parents are to remain in their vehicles when dropping off and/or picking up students. 

**Classes begin daily at 7:55AM.

**All check-outs must be facilitated by 2:30 PM daily

**Parents, deliveries and DoorDash are not allowed for students at Hueytown Middle School. 

**All parent conferences are scheduled through the main office. If you would like to schedule a conference with your child’s teacher(s), please contact Mrs. Davis in the main office.

 

Student Announcements 

**Attention Students: There will be a MANDATORY Cheer parent meeting on March 16, 2023 at 5:30pm in the competition gym for any girl who is interested in trying out for the 2023-2024 cheer squad. If your  parent does not attend this meeting, you will not be able to participate in tryouts.

 

ATTENTION 8TH GRADERS: 

  • Attention 8th Grade Band Students: There will be a parent meeting for interested band students at HHS on Thursday, March 2, at 7PM in the high school band room. If you have any questions, see Mr. Poe.
  • 8th Graders interested in singing in the HHS Chamber Choir, must sign up prior to auditioning. The QR code for signing up will be posted outside of Mrs. Wallis’ office. Auditions will be March 2nd & 3rd @ 4:00PM-5:30PM in the Choir RM 
  • HMS 8th Graders will participate in High School Course Selections on Monday, February 27th through Science Classes. Bring chromebooks to class.
