Weekly Announcements - Week of 1/9 to 1/13




COVID-19 positive students will follow these procedures:

  • Must be isolated for at least 5 days after symptoms first appear or 5 days from the test date for asymptomatic individuals

  • Must be fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications at the end of the 5 day period

  • Improvement of all other symptoms

  • Upon returning to school, the student must wear a mask for at least 5 days.

If the above criteria are not met, the student should isolate for the remaining five days.

Students who have not tested positive for COVID-19 or are not symptomatic should attend school.

HMS After School Tutoring

Tutoring will be facilitated this week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:15PM-4:15PM. If you have any questions, contact Mrs. May.

Student ID Badges/Chromebooks 

All HMS students will/have received an ID badge and chromebook. Parents, students are expected to have their ID badges and chromebooks daily. Per new district guidelines, once a student loses or damages his/her chromebook, a replacement will not be issued. Students will only be allowed to use a chromebook in the classroom. Parents may donate the price of the chromebook for replacement. 



Parents, HMS bullying reporting forms are available with our counselors. When a student notifies a teacher or staff member at HMS regarding bullying, the student will be directed to complete the bullying reporting form and submit it to their assigned counselor. 

Grade Recovery

2nd Nine Weeks Report Cards will be distributed Tuesday, January 10th via PowerSchool. Students who received less than 60% for any core subject will be eligible to participate in grade recovery. The timeline for grade recovery is January 11th-20th. Teachers will be communicating with eligible students the requirements for grade recovery. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. May. Parents, we will adhere to the deadline of January 20th. No exceptions. 

Chronic Absenteeism

Parents, I will be mailing letters to you if your child has nine or more absences from school. We are held accountable for chronic absenteeism. Chronic absenteeism negatively impacts our A-F report card grade. If students are not at school, they are not able to learn. Chronic absenteeism includes parent excuses and doctor’s excuses. These letters are for notification purposes only. I will be mailing these letters every quarter.. Please assist me by bringing your child to school. Attendance matters. 



**Students are expected to be dropped off and picked up on the side of the building, not the main entrance. Parents are to remain in their vehicles when dropping off and/or picking up students. 

**Classes begin daily at 7:55AM.

**All check-outs must be facilitated by 2:30 PM daily

**Parents, deliveries and DoorDash are not allowed for students at Hueytown Middle School. 

**All parent conferences are scheduled through the main office. If you would like to schedule a conference with your child’s teacher(s), please contact Mrs. Davis in the main office. 

Student Announcements 

**Students will change quarter and/or semester classes Monday, January 9th.


Tuesday, January 10th: HMS Basketball Teams will travel to McAdory  for competition play. Tipoff for the 1st game is @ 4:30PM


Tuesday, January 10th: 2nd Nine Weeks Report Cards will be distributed via PowerSchool


Thursday, January 12th: HMS Basketball Teams will host Minor MS @ HMS for competition play. Tipoff for the 1st game is @ 4:30PM. Students will NOT be allowed to remain on campus after dismissal to attend the game. Students must leave campus after school.
