COVID-19
***Updates***
COVID-19 positive students will follow these procedures:
-
Must be isolated for at least 5 days after symptoms first appear or 5 days from the test date for asymptomatic individuals
-
Must be fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications at the end of the 5 day period
-
Improvement of all other symptoms
-
Upon returning to school, the student must wear a mask for at least 5 days.
If the above criteria are not met, the student should isolate for the remaining five days.
Students who have not tested positive for COVID-19 or are not symptomatic should attend school.
Please contact Nurse Childs if you have any additional questions.
CEP Schools
Parents, You should have received an email last week regarding our school now falling under what’s known as the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). This means that your student will now be able to eat breakfast and lunch at no cost! Additional a la carte items are available for purchase, but the meal itself will now be covered.
One thing we need your help with is clearing up any negative lunch balances. If your child had any charges for meals prior to September 1st, and you have a negative balance, please pay that as soon as possible. You may pay cash or check to the school, or you can pay online with a credit or debit card.
Again, our school being part of the community eligibility provision is a win for our students in so many ways! You may check your email for more information.
Attendance Awareness Month
September is Attendance Awareness Month. Parents, we want our students at school each day. Please partner with us by ensuring your child is present at school. Attendance Matters. Every Student. Every Day.
Student ID Badges/Chromebooks
All HMS students will/have received an ID badge and chromebook. Parents, students are expected to have their ID badges and chromebooks daily. Per new district guidelines, once a student loses or damages his/her chromebook, a replacement will not be issued. Students will only be allowed to use a chromebook in the classroom. Parents may donate the price of the chromebook for replacement.
Bullying
Parents, HMS bullying reporting forms are available with our counselors. When a student notifies a teacher or staff member at HMS regarding bullying, the student will be directed to complete the bullying reporting form and submit it to their assigned counselor.
