Weekly Announcements - Week of 8/15 to 8/19

COVID-19

***Updates***

COVID-19 positive students will follow these procedures:

  • Must be isolated for at least 5 days after symptoms first appear or 5 days from the test date for asymptomatic individuals

  • Must be fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications at the end of the 5 day period

  • Improvement of all other symptoms

  • Upon returning to school, the student must wear a mask for at least 5 days.

If the above criteria are not met, the student should isolate for the remaining five days.

Students who have not tested positive for COVID-19 or are not symptomatic should attend school.

Chromebook & ID Badge Distribution 

Parents, chromebooks are being distributed to students. We should complete chromebook distribution this week. This year students will receive ID badges. ID badges will be made for students this week. Students are expected to bring ID badges to school daily. ID badges will be used and scanned in the lunchroom for breakfast and lunch. 

 

Code of Conduct Grade Level Meetings

Parents, students will participate in Code of Conduct Meetings this week. We will review our Jefferson County Student Code of Conduct and Dress Code expectations. Parents, we have completed our first week of school. We will begin counting tardies to class August 22nd. Students will be allowed one more week to work through locker difficulties. 

 

HMS Annual Title One Meeting/Open House

Parents, we would like to invite you to our Annual Title One Meeting and Open House for this school year. We will review pertinent information relating to Title One and allow you to visit and meet with your child’s teachers. We will begin our general session @ 6PM in the competition gym. We look forward to seeing you on August 22nd. 

 

HMS PTA

Thank you to all the parents/guardians/faculty/staff who have joined our PTA. It’s not too late to join. Membership is $10. HMS PTA Officer elections will be held on Aug 22 at 5:15 in the HMS Bandroom.  You must be a paid member to vote.  You can join and pay onsite at that time if you wish.

Reminders

**Students are expected to be dropped off and picked up on the side of the building, not the main entrance. Parents are to remain in their vehicles when dropping off and/or picking up students. 

**Classes begin daily at 7:55AM.

**All check-outs must be facilitated by 2:30 PM daily

**Parents, deliveries and DoorDash are not allowed for students at Hueytown Middle School. 

**All parent conferences are scheduled through the main office. If you would like to schedule a conference with your child’s teacher(s), please contact Mrs. Davis in the main office. 

 

Student Announcements 

Attention 7th & 8th Graders:

**If you are interested in participating in Cross Country, please sign up outside of Mr. Sizelove’s class RM 203 by Friday, August 19th. 

 

**7th & 8th Grade Girls: Volleyball tryouts will be Monday, August 15th @ 3:30PM in the practice gym & Basketball tryouts will be Tuesday, August 16th @ 3:30PM in the practice gym. See Coach Whitfield if you have any questions.
