Weekly Announcements - Week of 5/9 to 5/13




COVID-19 positive students will follow these procedures:

  • Must be isolated for at least 5 days after symptoms first appear or 5 days from the test date for asymptomatic individuals

  • Must be fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications at the end of the 5 day period

  • Improvement of all other symptoms

  • Upon returning to school, the student must wear a mask for at least 5 days.

If the above criteria are not met, the student should isolate for the remaining five days.

Students who have not tested positive for COVID-19 or are not symptomatic should attend school.

iReady Spring Test Administration

Language Arts: May 2nd-6th

Math: May 9th-13th


**Students who either score on grade level or meet their yearly growth target on the Spring administration of iReady in Reading are eligible to exempt both ELA and Social Studies Nine Weeks Common Assessments

**Students who either score on grade level or meet their yearly growth target on the Spring administration of iReady in Math are eligible to exempt both Math and Science Nine Weeks Common Assessments

**Students are expected to be dropped off and picked up on the side of the building, not the main entrance. Parents are to remain in their vehicles when dropping off and/or picking up students. 

**Classes begin daily at 7:55AM.

**All check-outs must be facilitated by 2:30 PM daily

**Parents, deliveries and DoorDash are not allowed for students at Hueytown Middle School. Your immediate attention to this matter is greatly appreciated. 

**All parent conferences are scheduled through the main office. If you would like to schedule a conference with your child’s teacher(s), please contact Mrs. Davis in the main office. 


Student Announcements

Attention 6th & 7th Grade Boys:

If you are interested in playing on our HMS basketball team, sign up with Coach Williams this week May 2nd-6th in the Gym. Tryouts will be May 17th-18th @ 3:15PM-5:15PM in the competition gym. You must have a current physical in order to try out and be 100% cleared in Dragonfly. 

Attention Current 6th & 7th Grade Girls: 

HMS Girls Basketball Tryouts will be May 9th-11th @ 3:30PM-5:30PM & HMS Volleyball tryouts will be May 16th-18th @ 3:30PM-5:30PM in the practice gym. You must be present on all days of tryouts. You must have a current physical, 100% cleared in Dragonfly, a ride home @ 5:30PM, and proper workout attire and shoes. See Coach Whitfield if you have any questions. 

It is that time of year! 2022 HMS yearbooks are almost here! So, it is time to start purchasing your yearbook. Yearbooks are $50 and can be purchased in the front office. Limited copies are available. Please hurry before they sell out!

Monday, May 16th: HMS EOY PBIS Faculty vs Student Basketball Game (see attachment for expectations)

Tuesday, May 17th: HMS Spring Band Concert @6:30PM, HHS Auditorium 

May 18th-May 23rd: Chromebooks will be returned (see attachment for schedule)

May 19th @ 6PM: HMS 8th Grade Transition Ceremony @ Hueytown High School, Gymnasium (Expectations will be emailed to parents on Tuesday, May 10th)

May 20th @ 9AM: EOY Awards Ceremony for 6th & 7th Graders @ Hueytown Middle School
