COVID-19

 

***Updates***

COVID-19 positive students will follow these procedures:

  • Must be isolated for at least 5 days after symptoms first appear or 5 days from the test date for asymptomatic individuals

  • Must be fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications at the end of the 5 day period

  • Improvement of all other symptoms

  • Upon returning to school, the student must wear a mask for at least 5 days.

If the above criteria are not met, the student should isolate for the remaining five days.

Students who have not tested positive for COVID-19 or are not symptomatic should attend school.

HMS 2nd Mile Teacher 2022

**Congratulations to Ms. Sheila Vardaman for being selected as Hueytown Middle School’s 2nd Mile Teacher 2022. A 2nd Mile Teacher is a teacher who goes above and beyond for his/her students and his/her professional growth in the classroom. Ms. Vardaman is well-deserving of this recognition and we are honored and privileged to have her at Hueytown Middle School. Congratulations Ms. Vardaman! We are proud of you!

HMS ACAP Testing 

Parents, we will facilitate ACAP Make-Up testing this week. The list of students who need to make-up ACAP tests is attached to the weekly schoolcast email. 



iReady Spring Test Administration

Language Arts: May 2nd-6th

Math: May 9th-13th

 

**Students who either score on grade level or meet their yearly growth target on the Spring administration of iReady in Reading are eligible to exempt both ELA and Social Studies Nine Weeks Common Assessments

**Students who either score on grade level or meet their yearly growth target on the Spring administration of iReady in Math are eligible to exempt both Math and Science Nine Weeks Common Assessments

 

Athletic Physicals

Attention 6th, 7th, & 8th Grade Students: If you would like to participate in athletic physicals in preparation for next school year, St. Vincent’s is hosting a physical day on May 6th. The cost is $15 and your parents will be responsible for transportation. If you are interested in participating, please sign up with Coach Williams or Coach Whitfield by Wednesday, April 26th. No one will be able to sign up after this deadline date. More information will be provided to interested students. 

 

Reminders

**Students are expected to be dropped off and picked up on the side of the building, not the main entrance. Parents are to remain in their vehicles when dropping off and/or picking up students. 

**Classes begin daily at 7:55AM.

**All check-outs must be facilitated by 2:30 PM daily

**Parents, deliveries and DoorDash are not allowed for students at Hueytown Middle School. Your immediate attention to this matter is greatly appreciated. 

**All parent conferences are scheduled through the main office. If you would like to schedule a conference with your child’s teacher(s), please contact Mrs. Davis in the main office. 

 

Student Announcements

Attention Current 6th & 7th Graders: If you are interested in participating on the 2022 HMS Football Team, please sign up using the QR codes that are posted in the hallways or with your PE teacher. 

It is that time of year! 2022 HMS yearbooks are almost here! So, it is time to start purchasing your yearbook. Yearbooks are $50 and can be purchased in the front office. Limited copies are available. Please hurry before they sell out!
