Weekly Announcements - Week of 4/18 to 4/22

COVID-19

***Updates***

COVID-19 positive students will follow these procedures:

Must be isolated for at least 5 days after symptoms first appear or 5 days from the test date for asymptomatic individuals
Must be fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications at the end of the 5 day period
Improvement of all other symptoms
Upon returning to school, the student must wear a mask for at least 5 days.

If the above criteria are not met, the student should isolate for the remaining five days.
Students who have not tested positive for COVID-19 or are not symptomatic should attend school.

School Deliveries

Parents, deliveries and DoorDash are not allowed for students at Hueytown Middle School. Your immediate attention to this matter is greatly appreciated.

HMS ACAP Testing

Parents, we will facilitate ACAP Make-Up testing this week. The list of students who need to make-up ACAP tests is attached to our schoolcast email.

3rd Nine Weeks Awards Ceremony

HMS 3rd Nine Weeks Awards Ceremony will be Tuesday, April 19th @ 8:30AM face-to-face in the competition gym. We are inviting all parents of students receiving an award to attend. The names of the recipients are attached to our schoolcast email.

Parent Conferences
All parent conferences are scheduled through the main office. If you would like to schedule a conference with your child’s teacher(s), please contact Mrs. Davis in the main office.

Reminders
**Students are expected to be dropped off and picked up on the side of the building, not the main entrance. Parents are to remain in their vehicles when dropping off and/or picking up students.
**Classes begin daily at 7:55AM.
**All check-outs must be facilitated by 2:30 PM daily

Student Announcements
Attention 8th Grade Girls: HHS Volleyball Tryouts will be April 21st-22nd @ 3:30PM-6PM @ HHS. You must be present each day of tryouts. All participants must have a current physical and be 100% clear in Dragonfly in order to tryout. See Coach Whitfield if you have any questions.

Attention 8th Graders: If you are interested in trying out for HHS color guard, there will be a mandatory parent meeting Monday, April 18th @ 5PM at HHS in the Lecture Hall. Color guard tryouts will be May 2nd-6th @ 3:30PM-6PM @ HHS gym.

Attention Current 6th & 7th Graders: If you are interested in participating on the 2022 HMS Football Team, please sign up using the QR codes that are posted in the hallways or with your PE teacher. Sign up begins Monday, April 18th.

It is that time of year! 2022 HMS yearbooks are almost here! So, it is time to start purchasing your yearbook. Yearbooks are $50 and can be purchased in the front office. Limited copies are available. Please hurry before they sell out!
