Weekly Announcements - Week of 3/14 to 3/18

COVID-19

***Updates***

COVID-19 positive students will follow these procedures:

  • Must be isolated for at least 5 days after symptoms first appear or 5 days from the test date for asymptomatic individuals

  • Must be fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications at the end of the 5 day period

  • Improvement of all other symptoms

  • Upon returning to school, the student must wear a mask for at least 5 days.

If the above criteria are not met, the student should isolate for the remaining five days.

Students who have not tested positive for COVID-19 or are not symptomatic should attend school.

Parent Surveys

Parents, we need your feedback. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey. The responses will be used to improve next year’s Parent and Family Engagement program at Hueytown Middle School. Your answers are confidential.The deadline to complete the survey is March 14th. Thank you to the 73 parents who have completed the survey. Our goal is at least 20% (157) of our parents.

School Deliveries

Parents, deliveries and DoorDash are not allowed for students at Hueytown Middle School. Your immediate attention to this matter is greatly appreciated. 

 

End of the 3rd Nine Weeks 

The end of the 3rd Nine Weeks is Tuesday, March 15th. Report Cards will be distributed via PowerSchool on Tuesday, March 22nd. 

 

Health Heroes Spring Vaccination Clinic

Attention Parents of 6th Grade Students: If you would like for your child to participate in the Health Heroes Spring Vaccination Clinic, please return the consent form to Nurse Childs by 8AM on Wednesday, March 16th. The vaccinations will be facilitated at HMS on Wednesday, March 16th. If you have any questions, please see Nurse Childs.

 

HMS Countdown to ACAP Testing

Parents, we have 15 instructional school days until ACAP testing. To assist our students prepare for ACAP, parents we need your help. Your child can work on the assigned interactive learning lessons in iReady each night. Thank you for partnering with us to improve the academic achievement of our students at Hueytown Middle School. If you have questions about the interactive lessons, please contact your child’s teacher. 

Parent Conferences

All parent conferences are scheduled through the main office. If you would like to schedule a conference with your child’s teacher(s), please contact Mrs. Davis in the main office. 

Reminders

**Students are expected to be dropped off and picked up on the side of the building, not the main entrance. Parents are to remain in their vehicles when dropping off and/or picking up students. 

**Classes begin daily at 7:55AM.

**All check-outs must be facilitated by 2:30 PM daily

***Attention 6th & 7th Graders: If you are interested in trying out for HMS Cheer, there will be a mandatory parent meeting March 23rd @ 5:30PM in the competition gym.
