Weekly Announcemente - Week of 3/7 to 3/11

COVID-19

***Updates***

COVID-19 positive students will follow these procedures:

  • Must be isolated for at least 5 days after symptoms first appear or 5 days from the test date for asymptomatic individuals

  • Must be fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications at the end of the 5 day period

  • Improvement of all other symptoms

  • Upon returning to school, the student must wear a mask for at least 5 days.

If the above criteria are not met, the student should isolate for the remaining five days.

Students who have not tested positive for COVID-19 or are not symptomatic should attend school.

Parent Surveys

Parents, we need your feedback. We are in the process of conducting an evaluation of our Title I Parent and Family Engagement Program, and we would like to know what you think. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey. The responses will be used to improve next year’s Parent and Family Engagement program at Hueytown Middle School. If you have questions about the survey or need assistance, please contact our main office. Your answers are confidential.The deadline to complete the survey is March 8th. Thank you to the 48 parents who have completed the survey. Our goal is at least 20% of our parents.

School Deliveries

Parents, deliveries and DoorDash are not allowed for students at Hueytown Middle School. Your immediate attention to this matter is greatly appreciated.

Parent Conferences

All parent conferences are scheduled through the main office. If you would like to schedule a conference with your child’s teacher(s), please contact Mrs. Davis in the main office. 

Reminders

**Students are expected to be dropped off and picked up on the side of the building, not the main entrance. Parents are to remain in their vehicles when dropping off and/or picking up students. 

**Classes begin daily at 7:55AM.

**All check-outs must be facilitated by 2:30 PM daily

 

Student Announcements

***HMS Spring Pictures will be Thursday, March 10th. Students must adhere to our dress code expectations. Pictures will be facilitated during PE classes.

***Attention 8th Graders: Applications for the Southern Zone Signature Academies will open March 7th. This is your opportunity to apply and participate in academies such as advanced manufacturing, agricultural science, automotive technology, biomedical science, broadcast journalism, engineering, leadership (ROTC), Logistics, and Art Music Technology beginning your 9th grade year. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Wallis. 

***Attention 6th & 7th Graders: If you are interested in trying out for HMS Cheer, there will be a mandatory parent meeting March 23rd @ 5:30PM in the competition gym.
