Weekly Announcements - Week of 9/27 to 10/1

COVID-19

As we continue to navigate through COVID-19 pandemic, parents, we need your assistance with ensuring safety for all of HMS faculty, staff and students. If someone in your home has tested positive for COVID-19 and your child is symptomatic, please follow the exclusion guidelines and contact Nurse Childs. If your child has been tested for COVID-19 and is awaiting results, contact our main office and keep your child at home until results have been provided. Parents, please contact Nurse Childs regarding COVID-19 related self quarantining. COVID-19 related absences are only provided if parents have contacted Nurse Childs and we have documented the COVID-19 absence. If you have any specific questions, please contact our main office. 

 

**Parents, please email your child’s teachers for make-up assignments if he/she is excluded from school due to COVID-19 exposure. 

 

Make-Up Assignments

Assignments eligible for students to make-up are coded as “0.01” in PowerSchool. The deadline for students who have returned back to school from COVID related absences is October 1st. If you have specific questions, please contact your child’s teacher.

 

RTI Targeted Support

Parents, we will begin implementing RTI (Response to Instruction) support for students who are not mastering standards. Students will have 30 minutes daily during 4th period to address needed skills and their iReady learning path. See your child’s teacher if you have any questions. 

 

1st Nine Weeks Common Assessment Schedule

All HMS students will participate in quarterly core common assessments in order to  progress monitor student mastery and retention of grade level standards. See our schedule below.

 Reminders

**All students, employees, and visitors must wear a mask while on campus during the school day.

**Students are expected to be dropped off and picked up on the side of the building, not the main entrance. Parents are to remain in their vehicles when dropping off and/or picking up students. 

**Classes begin daily at 7:55AM.

**All check-outs must be facilitated by 2:30 PM daily

**All HMS Athletic Events will use Go Fan for purchasing tickets. 

 

Student Announcements

Due to a lack of performers, the talent show planned for Friday, October 1st has been cancelled.  Special thanks to students who submitted audition tapes; Please continue to look out for other opportunities to share your gifts and talents at Hueytown Middle School.

Attention 7th & 8th Grade Boys: HMS Basketball Tryouts will be Friday, October 1st @ 3:30PM in the competition gym. You must be 100% cleared in DragonFly in order to try out. See Coach Williams if you have any questions.
