Weekly Announcements - Week of 5/10/21
As we continue to navigate through COVID-19 pandemic, parents, we need your assistance with ensuring safety for all of HMS faculty, staff and students. If someone in your home has tested positive for COVID-19, please contact our main office and follow the quarantine guidelines by keeping your child at home. If your child has been tested for COVID-19 and is awaiting results, please keep your child at home until results have been provided. Also parents, if you have been contacted by the school regarding your child being exposed, please adhere to the quarantine guidelines. If you have any specific questions, please contact our school’s nurse, Nurse Morris.
**We will continue to require masks for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors until the end of the 2020-2021 school year. This includes traditional school and any other school-sponsored events such as graduation ceremonies.
Change in Learning Option
Parents, you cannot change the learning option of your child without receiving permission to do so. If you have questions regarding your learning option, please contact Mrs. Davis in the main office.
Morning Drop Off
Parents, the front entrance is NOT a morning drop off location. Students who are dropped off at the front entrance prior to 7:55AM will be redirected to the side of the building. Thank you for your assistance.
Edmentum Diagnostic Testing
Parents, we will be facilitating our Edmentum Diagnostic Assessment this week in Science and Social Studies classes. We are expecting all of our students to participate.
HMS Upcoming Remote Days
All HMS students will participate in remote learning on the following days:
May 12th-Elearning Day
Students will not report to campus on these identified days. Students will be expected to complete asynchronous learning activities using their individual learning schedule.
EOC Grade Recovery Plan
Parents, in efforts to assist our students achieve academic success, we are facilitating our End of Course Grade Recovery Plan. Students who have failed a course 1st, 2nd, or 3rd Nine Weeks will be eligible to participate in grade recovery. Students will be provided a study guide and assessment for the failed course. Teachers will be communicating with parents and students by May 14th. Students will be expected to complete the study guide and score a minimum of 60% on the assessment. Students who meet the criteria will receive a maximum score of 60%. Students not participating in grade recovery will be working on extension activities in preparation for the upcoming year.
Student Dress Code
*Jeans with open holes above the knee are not allowed
*No halter-tops, spaghetti strap tops. Midriff tops, or overly revealing shirts
*Leggings and jeggins are allowed only if you have appropriate clothing over them that meet the dress code policy
*Skirts and dresses must be no shorter than 4 inches above the knee
**Attention 6th & 7th Grade Girls: HMS Basketball tryouts will be May 11th, 12th, 13th . You m@ 3:30PM-5PM, HHS. Students must have a current physical and transportation to and from HHS. See Coach Whitfield if you have any questions.
