Weekly Announcements - Week of 4/5/21


As we continue to navigate through COVID-19 pandemic, parents, we need your assistance with ensuring safety for all of HMS faculty, staff and students. If someone in your home has tested positive for COVID-19, please contact our main office and follow the quarantine guidelines by keeping your child at home. If your child has been tested for COVID-19 and is awaiting results, please keep your child at home until results have been provided. Also parents, if you have been contacted by the school regarding your child being exposed, please adhere to the quarantine guidelines. If you have any specific questions, please contact our school’s nurse, Nurse Morris.


Change in Learning Option

Parents, you cannot change the learning option of your child without receiving permission to do so. If you have questions regarding your learning option, please contact Mrs. Davis in the main office. 


Parent Surveys

Attention HMS Parents! We need your input. The deadline has been extended for our parent survey. We need at least 20% of parents to participate. As of date, we only have 6%. Parents, this is your opportunity to give feedback. Please click on the link below. The extended deadline is Friday, April 9th.

ACAP Testing

We will not facilitate ACAP Testing this week. We will resume testing next week. The testing schedule is below.

3rd Nine Weeks Grade Recovery

3rd Nine Weeks report cards were emailed via Chalkable last Friday. Students who have failed a class 3rd nine weeks will have the opportunity to participate in grade recovery. Teachers are expected to communicate with you regarding the expectations for grade recovery. The deadline to submit recovery is Friday, April 9th. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher. 


HMS Upcoming Remote Days

All HMS students will participate in remote learning on the following days:

April 5th-6th: HMS Faculty/Staff will be participating in COVID-19 Vaccinations. All HMS learners will participate in asynchronous learning activities using their own learning schedule.

April 13th-14th: All traditional learners will participate in asynchronous learning activities using their own learning schedule due to ACAP testing for remote learners. All remote learners will report to campus on these dates. 

May 5th-Elearning Day 


Student Dress Code

*Jeans with open holes above the knee are not allowed

*No halter-tops, spaghetti strap tops. Midriff tops, or overly revealing shirts

*Leggings and jeggins are allowed only if you have appropriate clothing over them that meet the dress code policy

*Skirts and dresses must be no shorter than 4 inches above the knee


Student Announcements

**Attention 6th & 7th Grade Girls: If you are interested in trying out for HMS Cheerleading Team, there will be a make-up mandatory parent meeting April 6th @ 3:30PM via WebEx. Parents who attended last week will not have to attend this meeting. Parents in order for your child to participate in clinic and tryouts, you must attend the parent meeting. HMS Spring Pictures will be Thursday, April 8th for traditional learners during PE classes. Remote learners may have pictures taken from 10AM-11AM on April 8th. Remote learners must report to the main office and will be expected to wear a face mask.
