Weekly Announcements - Week of 1/11/21


As COVID-19 cases are on the rise, parents, we need your assistance with ensuring safety for all of HMS faculty, staff and students. If someone in your home has tested positive for COVID-19, please contact our main office and follow the quarantine guidelines by keeping your child at home. If your child has been tested for COVID-19 and is awaiting results, please keep your child at home until results have been provided. Also parents, if you have been contacted by the school regarding your child being exposed, please adhere to the quarantine guidelines. If you have any specific questions, please contact our school’s nurse, Nurse Morris.

Parents, we are requesting for all students to use a school issued device. If your child does not have a school issued device, please contact Mrs. Burkholder as soon as possible so arrangements can be made to issue a device.

HMS Learning Schedule
Parents, HMS learners will be participating in our traditional/remote 5 day learning schedule this week.. This is the same schedule we facilitated prior to the mid-year break. Please review this schedule with your child. All traditional learners will return to school beginning Monday, January 11th. All remote learners will remain remote. We are requesting that traditional learners bring their charged devices to school. We will adhere to ADPH guidelines while on campus. Parents, please review the dress code guidelines and expectations with your child. The 5 Day Learning Schedule and Returning to traditional learning is attached to this email.

Traditional/Remote Learning
Parents, If you wish to change the learning option for your child for 3rd nine weeks from Traditional to Remote or from Remote to Traditional, please contact Mrs. Davis by phone at  205-379-5150 or by email at by Wednesday, January 13, 2021. 

Student Dress Code
*Jeans with open holes above the knee are not allowed
*No halter-tops, spaghetti strap tops. Midriff tops, or overly revealing shirts
*Leggings and jeggins are allowed only if you have appropriate clothing over them that meet the dress code policy
*Skirts and dresses must be no shorter than 4 inches above the knee

Student Announcements
*All HMS students will be participating in Performance Series and Edmentum Testing from January 11-22. We are expecting all students to participate and give their best effort. 

*Second Nine Weeks Grading period will end January 20th and report cards will be emailed to parents on January 26th. 

*Attention HMS Ladies: If you are interested in participating in the Miss HMS Pageant, please email Mrs. Wallis by Friday, January 15th. If we have enough girls who will be contestants we will plan to have the pageant. The tentative date of the pageant would be Feb. 13th or April 24th. CDC guidelines will be followed with the possibility of grade level pageants with three separate times to accommodate our guests.
