Congratulations to Mrs. Antwine, Brighton School's 2019 Teacher of the Year!

Mandy Jayne (Stanley) Antwine comes from a family filled with both veteran and young educators. Mandy Antwine graduated from Samford University in 2014 and was selected as the “2014 National Student Teacher of the Year”. She is in her fifth year of teaching and is the Lead Exceptional Education Teacher at Brighton School in Brighton, Alabama. Lovingly referred to by her students as “Mrs. A.,” she strives to find creative ways to advocate for her “kiddos” by serving in numerous leadership roles in her school and community. She helps develop initiatives that inspire attendance, engagement in learning, and positive behavior and social skills. Mrs. A serves on her school’s Continuous Improvement Leadership Team, the Inaugural Jefferson County Superintendent’s Teacher Advisory Council, the Arc of Jefferson County’s Junior Board, and is Samford University’s Legacy League Junior Board President. She enjoys traveling around the country to provide professional development to pre-service and practicing educators, and she is working towards her Masters in Special Education at the University of South Alabama. Mrs. Antwine was also a Top 5 Finalist for the 2018 Jefferson County Teacher of the Year.
