    Credit Recovery Program:

    • Required for students who earned between a 40 and a 59 in core academic courses
    • Students work at their own pace
    • 2 credits maximum
    • Main Term: June 6-27*
    • Overflow Term: July 1-22*
    • Time: 8 am – 1 pm
    • Main Term Cost: $175
    • Overflow Term Cost: $75 each week

    Full-Course Recovery Program:

    • Required for students who earned a failing grade below 40
    • Requires completion of full-course content in summer school
    • Students work at their own pace
    • Students needing to recover 1 full credit must attend both summer school terms
    • .5 credit can be earned in one term
    • 2 credits maximum
    • Main Term: June 6-27*
    • Overflow Term: July 1-22*
    • Time: 8 am – 1 pm
    • Main Term Cost: $175
    • Overflow Term Cost: $75 each week


    NCAA Full-Course Recovery Program:

    • Required for students seeking NCAA eligibility
    • Students must attend every day of each term in which they are receiving credit
    • Students needing to recover 1 full credit must attend both summer school terms
    • 2 credits maximum
    • Term 1: June 6-27*
    • Term 2: July 1-22*
    • Time: 8 am – 1 pm
    • Cost for Half credit/course needed (3 weeks total) = $175
    • Cost for Full credit/course needed (6 weeks total) = $350


    Full-Course Drivers' Education Program:

    • Students earn .5 credit for Drivers’ Education
    • Students take drivers’ license test during the course
    • Term 1: June 6-27*
    • Term 2: July 1-22*
    • Time: 8 am – 1 pm
    • Cost = $190 (includes licensing test fee)


    Full-Course Initial Credit Program:

    • Offered to students wishing to earn initial credit in English, math, science, social studies, and/or health
    • Students work at their own pace
    • Not open to students wanting to be NCAA eligible
    • 2 credits maximum
    • Exam-only option is available
    • Main Term: June 6-27*
    • Overflow Term: July 1-22*
    • Time: 8 am – 1 pm
    • Main Term Cost: $175
    • Overflow Term Cost: $75 each week

    *Students will attend classes Monday through Thursday. There will be no classes on July 4 & 5.


    Important Summer School Information:

    • Students will attend either Fultondale High School or Minor High School.

    • Students must attend the entire day each day until the work is completed or summer school ends, whichever comes first.
      • Students wishing to be NCAA eligible must attend the entire term for which they are seeking credit. Finishing early is not allowed for NCAA-eligible students.

    • Students needing additional time to complete coursework after the Main Term ends on June 27 will pay $75 for each additional week of time in summer school during the Overflow Term.
      • Payment is due not later than the Monday of each week in the Overflow Term.
      • Payment for the full week ($75) is due no matter how many days a student attends that week.

    • No extensions will be granted past July 22.

    • All programs except Drivers’ Education will be taught using Edgenuity.
      • Non-NCAA credit recovery programs are taught using Edgenuity with Jefferson County highly-qualified teachers as the teachers of record.
      • Initial credit and NCAA full-course recovery is taught using Edgenuity with highly-qualified Edgenuity teachers.
      • Students should bring headphones/earbuds each day to listen to online instruction without disrupting other students. No headphones/earbuds will be available to borrow at the school site.
      • Drivers’ Education will be taught by a certified instructor in-person. The instructor determines the dates of in-person attendance. Driving time will be scheduled on an individual basis considering requirements of the state driving test.

    • Advanced level course credit can only be recovered as a general course credit. No additional quality point can be earned through summer school.

    • Summer school final grades will be sent to the home school within one week of completion of both summer school terms.

    • It is the responsibility of the base school to provide all IEP/504 plans to the summer school site by the end of the first day of the summer school session.

    • Students should notify the summer school site of any health issues that will require attention during summer school (i.e., low or high blood sugar, recent surgeries, etc.).


    ABSENCES:
    Students should not be absent from summer school. Any approval for an absence from summer school is at the discretion of the site administrator.

    TARDIES: Classes begin at 8:00 a.m. Students are expected to be in their seats and ready to begin work at that time. Any approval for tardies is at the discretion of the site administrator.

    DISCIPLINE: Students are expected to follow the guidelines for behavior as approved by the Jefferson County Board of Education. If a student is dismissed from summer school for disciplinary reasons, all fees are forfeited.

    DRESS CODE: Dress code guidelines approved by the Jefferson County Board of Education will be followed. Students in violation of the dress code will be sent home to change clothes.

    PARKING: Students will be expected to leave their cars immediately after parking. Students are not allowed to loiter in cars in the mornings or visit their cars during the day or during break without the permission of the principal.

    FOOD ITEMS: Breakfast and lunch are provided. A break will be provided each day. No food/drink items besides those sold at the school may be brought on campus! Each site may have concessions available during the break.
