MYP School Counselor

Jasmine Stinson, LPC, NCC graduated with BS in Secondary English Education from Georgia Southern University and earned her MS in School Counseling with a Clinical/Mental Health add-on at Mercer University. She has an extensive background in education with over 17 years of experience with diverse populations and settings. She has served as an English teacher—Gen Ed., ESL, & Gifted—a professional school counselor, and a mental health counselor/therapist. In 2018, she relocated from the south suburbs of Atlanta to the Birmingham area where she served as the teacher/counselor for a therapeutic day school. There, she fostered a therapeutic environment for students struggling to find success in traditional school settings. She also writes Social/Emotional Learning Curriculum and trains educators across the county for a small company based out of Atlanta, GA. She is passionate about helping students grow to become their best selves and helping teachers increase their abilities to meet students where they are and create safe spaces conducive to the development and maintaining of the social, emotional, and academic skills essential for life.

In her spare time, Jasmine enjoys hanging out with her family and friends, traveling, being a foodie, listening to music (especially live), and doing almost anything outdoors, in no particular order. An embarrassing secret is that she’s a Falcons fan despite being well aware of their record. Her 14-year-old dog, Diggs, is pretty sure he’s a human and is more spoiled than she cares to admit. She has no biological children, but there are 8 munchkins who call her aunt and a plethora of young adults who call her Mama/ Mama S. Her life motto came from a teacher who used to tell each class, “Make it a great day or not; the choice is yours.”

She is excited to be a part of the JCIB MYP family. Stop by her office in the Guidance Suite (located next to the main office) if you need anything or just to say hi.
