Mr. Jarvis Watkins
Dear Pleasant Grove High School Parents:
It is my privilege to serve in my third year as the principal of Pleasant Grove High School, a school with a long history of honor and tradition. It is my goal to ensure all students graduate from Pleasant Grove High School and will possess all necessary skills to either continue their education at a two or four-year college or to graduate career-ready which will provide them with an opportunity to begin immediate employment.
I would like to share a little about my educational background and experiences. I am a 1996 graduate of Alabama A&M University with a B.S. Degree in Technology Education and obtained a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Alabama-Birmingham. I also have an Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Montevallo. I began my teaching career in the Birmingham City School System at Center Street Middle School as a Technology Education Teacher and Football Coach in 1996. In 1997, I taught in the Baldwin County School System at Fairhope High School. I spent 6 years teaching and coaching Girls Basketball in the Jefferson County School System at McAdory High School before becoming Assistant Principal at Pleasant Grove High School in 2004. I served as Assistant Principal at Pleasant Grove High School for 6 years before becoming Principal at Pleasant Grove Middle School for seven years, 2010 – 2017 where I served until my appointment at Pleasant Grove High. I am beginning the 23rd year of my career in education pursuing my passion for providing an opportunity for success to our students.
It is with great honor and excitement to serve as principal of Pleasant Grove High School, and I am looking forward to the journey that is ahead of us. Working together, we will make a difference in the lives of our students. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
