It's an honor to be the principal of Kermit Johnson Elementary School! This starts my 29th year as an educator in Jefferson County. I spent the first 15 years of my career as a fifth grade teacher and three years as a librarian at Minor Jr. High School. I've worked as an administrator since then in Pleasant Grove, McCalla, Irondale and most recently at the Jefferson County International Baccalaureate school at Pleasant Grove and Shades Valley.
Our Vision Statement at Kermit Johnson truly conveys what I believe our role should be in the lives of the children we serve.
"The vision of Kermit Johnson Elementary School is to create an environment which allows students to develop social, emotional, and academic skills, resulting in kind, productive and successful members of society."
On a personal note, I love spending time with family, reading, gardening, and supervising the upkeep of our 18 acre farm. I've been married to my husband, Jimmy, for over 30 years!!!! Our family includes, Cameron and her husband Ben, and our youngest daughter Erin. We are also the proud grandparents of Atley Wren and Sawyer.
