Grantswood Community School, located in Irondale, Alabama, opened its doors in 1979 as part of the Jefferson County School District, the second largest school district in the state. A school with a long history of excellence, Grantswood Community School received national honors and recognition in the 1990s from the United States Department of Education in Washington, D.C. as a National Blue Ribbon School. Grantswood Community School is now a kindergarten through PreK through fifth grade school with over 500 students. When leaving fifth grade, students attend our feeder pattern schools as follows: Irondale Middle School for sixth through eighth grades and Shades Valley High School for ninth through twelfth grades. We are thankful for the opportunity to serve all of our parents and students!
