    · Check your high school grades and courses to see if they conform to the requirements for admission to the colleges of interest to you. Make an appointment with the College Counselor if you need assistance.


    · Apply to colleges you are interested in attending as applications open

    · Be sure your resume is updated 

    · Complete NCAA registration online (Athletes)

    · Register for SAT and/or SAT subject tests (if required by college)

    · Register for ACT if necessary

    · Remember responsibilities if applying for Early Decision or Early Action

    · Check college websites for applications, catalogs, deadlines, etc.

    · You are encouraged to use the Common Application (www.commonapp.org) if applying to several colleges that accept it. List the College Counselor's name (Mr. Aaron) and not your senior counselor, as your counselor when using Common Application.

    · Request transcripts through front office during lunch $3.00

    · Begin drafts of essays, if applicable

    · Plan college visits and/or interviews if applicable

    · Attend National College Fair at BJCC

    · Attend individual college sessions at MHS

    · Request official test scores from testing services


    · Update resume

    · Take or retake SAT and/or ACT

    · Check to see if your college requires the CSS Financial Aid PROFILE (check deadlines) and/or meet with the College Financial Aid Office

    · Work on college essays

    · Plan college visits and interviews (remember a thank you letter)

    · Ask teachers for recommendations (remember a thank you note)

    · Be aware of Early Decision or Early Action deadlines

    · Submit recommendation forms/requests to college counselor 4 WEEKS BEFORE DEADLINE

    · Submit Early Decision or Early Action applications by Oct. 1

    · Complete FAFSA beginning October 1


    · Take SAT or SAT subject tests if necessary

    · Continue to research sources of scholarships (check MHS scholarship bins and MHS website)

    · Get recommendation forms/requests with Dec. 1-Jan. 15 deadline to Mr. Jones

    · Complete applications to colleges with Dec. 1 deadlines for scholarship consideration


    · Take SAT, SAT subject tests, and/or ACT if needed

    · Finish all applications and essays to selective colleges

    · Check all application deadlines!


    · Submit mid-year grade forms to Mr. Aaron

    · Finish college applications

    · Take SAT or SAT subject tests if needed


    · Check/Apply for private outside scholarships

    · Continue to check scholarship file and MHS website


    · Submit additional information to colleges (new scores, grades, honors, etc.) which may help your admission process

    · Notify Mr. Jones of any college acceptances and scholarships received


    · Review college responses and aid offers with your parents and/or college counselor

    · Notify colleges you will not attend

    · Make final decision

    · Send deposit by May 1 to the school you will be attending

    · Notify Mr. Aaron of any college acceptances and scholarships received


    · Take AP exams

    · Confirm housing plans

    · Check with college to see if medical exam is required
