Pleasant Hill UMC Back to School Bash
Pleasant Hill UMC will hold a backpack bash event in August. They will offer free haircuts, free health screenings, free backpacks/supplies, information about after-school care/services, a mobile market, and more. At this time, they are accepting registration from McAdory Elementary, Lipscomb Elementary, McCalla Elementary, McAdory Middle, and McAdory High School. Rising 6th Grader Parent Q&A
5th grade parents have the opportunity to attend a Q&A session with the McCalla Administrators, McAdory Middle Administrators, and the counselors of both schools.

This session will NOT be an open floor session, so please add your questions to this document to allow the teams to form detailed responses to all questions presented.
The parent session will be Thursday, May 19 at 4:30 via Webex.
The 5th grade students will take a tour of McAdory Middle School on May 24th after the awards program.

Notice of JEFCOED Special Called and Committee Board Meetings
The Jefferson County Board of Education will have a Special Called Board meeting on May 10, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the board’s office 2100 18th Street South, Birmingham, Alabama. The purpose of the meeting shall be to consider and vote on certain bid documents and other board business in open session and to enter into executive session in accordance with Alabama law, to discuss with the Board’s attorney pending legal issues. The Jefferson County Board of Education will meet for our regular Committee Meeting immediately following the Executive Session.

Date and venue set for JEFCOED’s Exceptional Prom
The Jefferson County School District is proud to announce that its annual Exceptional Prom will be held on Thursday, May 19th at the Finley Center in Hoover. It will be from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

JEFCOED Increases Pay for Subs
The Jefferson County Board of Education has approved new pay rates for several categories of substitutes. The changes were voted on during Thursday’s meeting and will take effect immediately.

Jefferson County Schools Announces District’s Teachers of the Year
JEFCOED and the Jefferson County Schools Education Foundation announced Tuesday night that Grantswood Community School’s Andrea Riley (elementary division) and Gardendale High School’s Alex Lewis (secondary division) are the 2022-2023 Teachers of the Year.
