A Chorale Performance at the COB
The Center Point High Chorale performed at Jefferson County Board of Education to provide a glimpse of the exceptional talent of our students and our chorale director.

FBLA
Mark Hatten, Jr. received 1st Place in the FBLA Help Desk competition. Kamiya Williams won 1st Place in the FBLA Network Infrastructure competition. Both students have advanced to the National level competitions in Chicago from June 29-July 3.

National English Honor Society
Our National English Honor Society members visited Center Point Elementary School to help spread the joy of reading to our feeder-pattern students.

Congratulations to our DECA Winners!
We are elated that our CTE students competed in the DECA competition and received first and second place in the Business Growth and in the Innovation Plan competitions. DECA is essential because the organization prepares emerging student leaders in the areas of marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges.

Ready to Work Field Trip
Students traveled to Valleydale Baptist Church to visit a Ready to Work Expo with other Jefferson County and Birmingham schools. We are providing and supporting our students with post-high school career opportunities.

The CTE Networking Bonanza provides juniors and seniors the opportunity to demonstrate their values, skills, and professionalism while simultaneously receiving face-to-face training in effective business networking by some of the leading professionals of Jefferson County and beyond.

AAMU Scholarship Tour Bus made a stop at Center Point High School to provide scholarships and make college possible for our worthy students. We thank AAMU for making hopes and dreams come true for our scholarship recipients.

SkillsUSA Competition
In the SkillsUSA Central District Competition, Bria Hayes received 2nd place in “Job Skills Demonstration A", and Destiny Alexander has advanced and will compete in the "Class Project Individual” at the State level in April. We are proud of our students' accomplishments!

Third Semester SOAR Program
Jefferson County Schools will continue to offer the Third Semester SOAR program. This program will enable students to gain mastery of concepts that were not learned during the regular school year. We celebrate our indispensable administrative professionals on National Administrative Professionals Day. The professionals ensure a smooth and orderly office work environment every day. These support individuals are flexible, efficient and welcoming to the community of Center Point. They coordinate our school’s appointments; ensure budgetary spending; adhere to financial reports protocol; draft letters; and schedule teacher and parent meetings. Our administrative professionals are tremendously vital to our daily school operations. We congratulate them and we sincerely appreciate their commitment to work effectiveness.

May is Get Caught Reading Month
May is Get Caught Reading Month. At Center Point High School, we anticipate seeing everyone having their eyes and thoughts deeply immersed in a reading journey. Get Caught Reading was established in 1999 by the Association of American Publishers (AAP) to encourage people of all ages to spend an entire month spreading the joy of reading.

Notice of JEFCOED Special Called and Committee Board Meetings
The Jefferson County Board of Education will have a Special Called Board meeting on May 10, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the board’s office 2100 18th Street South, Birmingham, Alabama. The purpose of the meeting shall be to consider and vote on certain bid documents and other board business in open session and to enter into executive session in accordance with Alabama law, to discuss with the Board’s attorney pending legal issues. The Jefferson County Board of Education will meet for our regular Committee Meeting immediately following the Executive Session.

Date and venue set for JEFCOED’s Exceptional Prom
The Jefferson County School District is proud to announce that its annual Exceptional Prom will be held on Thursday, May 19th at the Finley Center in Hoover. It will be from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

JEFCOED Increases Pay for Subs
The Jefferson County Board of Education has approved new pay rates for several categories of substitutes. The changes were voted on during Thursday’s meeting and will take effect immediately.

Jefferson County Schools Announces District’s Teachers of the Year
JEFCOED and the Jefferson County Schools Education Foundation announced Tuesday night that Grantswood Community School’s Andrea Riley (elementary division) and Gardendale High School’s Alex Lewis (secondary division) are the 2022-2023 Teachers of the Year.
