BUSINESS EDUCATION
Business Technology Essentials – This course is a one-credit course designed to help master basic skills in areas of word processing, database management, spreadsheet, presentation, Internet, and E-mail. This is the first course in the Business Education Curriculum and is the pre-requisite for all other classes.
Accounting I and II – This is a one-credit course designed to help students understand the basic principles of the accounting cycle. Emphasis is placed on analyzing and recording business transactions; preparing and interpreting financial statements, accounting systems, banking, and payroll activities: identifying basic types of business ownership; and participating in an orientation to careers in accounting. Two levels are taught basic and advanced.
Interactive Multimedia Design – This course is one-credit course designed to provide students with skills involving presentations, desktop publishing, web publishing, and digital graphics.
Law in Society – This is a one credit course designed to acquaint students with basic legal principles common to business and personal activities. Topics include evaluating contracts, maximizing purchasing powers through credit, purchasing appropriate insurance, and renting or owning real estate.
Multi Media Publications – This course is designed to introduce students into the varied aspects of producing a publication including the school yearbook. The aspects include layout, design, ads, and editing. Teacher approval is required.
Web Page Design - This is a one-credit course designed to provide students with skills in web page design involving internet search.
CAREER TECHNICAL
Home Economics
Fashion Dynamics – This is a one-credit course that allows students to explore the relationship among different aspects of fashion, fabric, color and design.
Family Dynamics - This is a one-credit course that allows students to explore aspects of family life and factors involved with running a home.
Teen Dynamics – This one-credit course is designed to assist students in recognizing the roles, responsibilities of being a teen growing into adulthood. This course is offered only to ninth grade students.
Parenting – This is a one credit course designed to assist students in recognizing the role of being a parent and the essential factors involved in being a parent.
Advertising Design
Introduction to Visual Arts I – This is a one-credit course that provides students with experiences and orientation for the advertising design program and preparation for working safely in a laboratory and studio environment individually and with others.
Desktop Publishing – This is a one-credit course is to provide students with hands-on experiences addressing a variety of the components of information design.
Graphic Illustration – This is a one-credit course that provides students with experiences and instruction in object and information design.
Portfolio Studio – This is a one-credit course that provides students with the opportunity to create a wide variety of art projects utilizing traditional and electronic portfolio presentations.
Auto Technology

Electrical/Electronics – This is a one-credit course that provides students with classroom and laboratory instruction in electrical and electronic system operations, diagnosis, and repairs.
Electrical/Electronics II/Brakes I – This course is a one-credit course that provides students with classroom and laboratory instruction in electrical accessories and brake system operations, diagnosis, and repairs.
Brakes II/Suspension and Steering – This course is a one-credit course that is designed to provide students with a working knowledge of brake assist assemblies, anti-lock systems, suspension systems, and steering systems.
Engine Performance
This course is a one-credit course that provides students with knowledge and skills regarding general engine diagnosis, computerized engine controls, ignition systems, fuel systems, and emission control systems.
Automatic Transmission – This course is designed to provide students with knowledge regarding the construction and operation of automatic transmissions/transaxles.
Engine Repair – This course is a one-credit course that provides students with classroom and laboratory experiences regarding diagnosing and repairing gasoline engines.
Automotive Collision Repair

Painting and Refinishing – This program consists of four to six courses that provide current and emerging technologies enabling students to understand the basic principles of automotive finishes and body repair.
Child Care
Classes in this area are linked for two credits for te full year under the Auto Technology numbers I, II and III. Topics include the following.
Early Childhood Education -This is a one-credit course designed for students who are interested in pursuing careers working with children.
Advanced Early Childhood Education- This is a one-credit course. The course provides students with advanced knowledge and skills used in the field of education.
Older Adult Care – This is a one-credit course. The content includes content that helps students learn ways to provide services for the older adults.
Advanced Adult Care – This is a one-credit course. This course provides and in-depth study of ways to provide services for older adults.
Cooperative Education
Coordinated Studies – This is a required component of the Career/Technical Cooperative Education Program. This one-credit course provides students with the opportunity to evaluate and develop a career plan and prepare/update a career employment portfolio.
Coordinated Studies Seminar – After earning one credit in coordinated studies, students enrolled are required to participate in the Coordinated Studies Seminar equivalent to one class per week in order to participate in work-based experience during the senior year. Prerequisite: Coordinated Studies and passage of all parts of AHSGE.
Cosmetology

Introduction to Cosmetology – This is a one-credit course that provides students with a study of personal and professional image, ethical conduct, sanitation, hairstyling and nail care.
Chemical Methodology - This is a one-credit course that focuses on the theory of hair and scalp disorders, permanent waving, chemical relaxers, and hair composition.
Salon Practices and Management – This is a one-credit course that helps students develop entry-level management skills for the beauty industry.
Esthetics – This is a one-credit course that focuses on cosmetic products and skin care.
Colorimetry – This is a one-credit that provides students with study and experience in hair coloring and lightening.
Nail Care and Applications – This is a one-credit course that focuses on all aspects of nail care.
Hospitality Science
Introduction to Tourism and Lodging - This is a one-credit course that introduces students to the major segments of tourism and lodging industry.
Hotel and Lodging – This is a one credit course that focuses on the application of basic principles of the hotel and lodging industry. Students develop skills in various functional areas of a hotel’s operation, including front desk operations, guest registration, housekeeping, sales and guest services.
Hotel and Lodging Management – This is a one credit course that focuses on the management of people and operations in the hotel and lodging industry.
Travel and Tourism - This is a once credit course that introduces students to the travel and tourism industry.
Technical Drafting
Classes in this area are linked for two credits for the full year under the CAD numbers I, II and III. Topics include the following.
Introduction to Drafting Design – This is a one-credit course that serves as an introduction to the Drafting Design Technology Field. It provides essential information that builds a strong foundation for the entire program.
Intermediate Mechanical Design – This is a one-credit course designed to further the development of students’ knowledge regarding the use of drafting design practices and procedures.
Advanced Mechanical Design – This is a one-credit course for students who are interested in engineering and related mechanical drafting areas that provide in-depth study of mechanical design.
3-D Solid Model Design – This is a one-credit course intended to provide students the opportunity to explore 3-D modeling.
Introduction to Architectural Design – This is a one-credit course that introduces students to the basic terminology, concepts, and principles of Architectural Design field.
Architectural Design II – This is a one-credit course that provides students with instruction regarding more advanced and detailed architectural plans.
Welding Technology
Classes in this area are linked for two credits for the full year under the Welding numbers I, II and III. Topics include the following.
Welding – This is a four to six course program which covers fundamentals, operation of oxy-fuel cutting and shielded metal arc welding, plasma arc cutting, carbon arc cutting, grove welds, and gas metal arc welding.

Clinical Spectrum – This is a one credit foundational course that provides students with the opportunity to become healthcare workers.
Therapeutic Innovations – This is a one-credit core course designed to introduce students to occupations or functions primarily involved in changing the health status of patient/client over time.
Health Science Continuum – This course is offered to students who have completed a clinical major and is comprised at 60% of the Health Science Internship Course.
