Advanced paced coverage of grammar and advanced composition techniques. Additional reading is required for for analysis, synthesis, critical thinking, and application. Recommendation of current English teacher required. |

Study of grammar and usage, composition, vocabulary, spelling, speaking and reading skills. A research paper is required. |
| English 10 Pre-AP |

Encompasses a study of grammar and usage including composition, vocabulary and reading skills. Includes a survey of short stories, essays, poems, novels and drama. |
| English 11 College Prep |
Accelerated study of grammar and usage, composition and vocabulary. Includes accelerated studies of short stories, essays, poems, novels, and drama from American literature from the 1900's. Advanced skills required for college entrance skills will be emphasized. Summer reading: The Gospel According to Larry by Janet Tashijan. |
| AP English 11 |
A college level course that engages students to become skilled readers of a variety of written works from various time periods. Expanded reading and writing is required to prepare students for the AP Exam. Summer reading: a fiction novel; a selected memoir/autobiography; and one non-fiction assigned at the time of enrollment. |
| English 12 |
Encompasses study of grammar and usage as well as composition, vocabulary, spelling, speaking, and reading skills. Literature studies include Macbeth, short stories, essays, poems, and epics from British literature. |
| English 12 College Prep |
Accelerated study of grammar and usage, composition, vocabulary, speaking and reading skills. Study various compositions from British literature and create a literary research paper. Skills required for college entrance exams will be developed. |
| AP English 12 |
Extensive and intensive reading and writing are required. Specific requirements for book cards should be acquired from instructor or counselors. British literature will be emphasized. Expanded writing and reading will be required to prepare for the AP Exam. |
| English Composition 101/102 |
Option for Honors English 12. Material covered encompasses Alabama Course of Study and Jefferson State Community College English 101 Course Competencies. Several prerequisites- see course handbook. |
