A list of classes offered is below including a brief description. Due to enrollment all classes may not be offered during each term. Please inquire with a counselor to see if the class you are interested in is available. For a more detailed description, please see the Course Description Booklet available in the counseling center.
| Art I |
The study of basic elements and principles of design. |
| Art II |
Advanced art techniques with an emphasis on good design. Commercial art, advanced drawing & painting, graphics, sculpture, ceramics, and art history are skills and understanding offered in Art II. Prerequisite-Art I |
| Art III |
Places emphasis on building a portfolio suitable for presentation. Opportunity for course work is available in 2- and 3- dimensional media. Prerequisite - Art II and permission from instructor. |
| Art IV |
Designed for students in developing a more personal style in their artwork. It will include art history and interpretations of various cultures. It will emphasize self-directed learning. Prerequisite Art III and instructor permission. |
| AP Art History |
Designed to provide an understanding and enjoyment of architecture, sculpture, painting, and other art forms within a historical and cultural context. No studio art skills required. Prerequisite-permission from instructor. |
| AP Art Studio/Drawing |
College-level studio art course designed for students who are seriously interested in the practical experience of art. Two types of portfolios may be submitted in separate years. Prerequisite - permission of instructor. |
| Humanities |
Involves a brief look at all aspects of the learning fields other than math and science. Overview of art of all arts with an emphasis on painting, music, and theater. |
| Graphic Design |
Provides instruction in the skills of graphic design and the use of the computer. Open to grades 10-12 and Art I suggested. |
| Graphic Design II |
Develop a high level of proficiency of concepts covered during Graphic Design I. Learn to create art works, illustrations, and layouts. |
| Photography |
Learn mechanics of a manual 35 mm camera. Develop own black and white film with appropriate chemical process and explore printing techniques, manipulations, and montage. (Supplies are ~ $100. Fee is $40.) |
| Advanced Photography |
Continuation of the basic class. Prerequisite-permission of instructor. |
A fee is required for all art classes.
