We had a reading pep rally to kick off Family Reading Month!!!

We would like to thank the HMS Cheerleaders and the HHS Band for helping us get excited about READING!

We had a great time when author CHRIS RUMBLE visited Hueytown Elementary!!!

Last Spring Hueytown Elementary students competed with 16 other schools from the Birmingham Metro Area in UAB's Books for Baskets competition. Our students placed FIRST and won $2,000 worth of books from Books-A-Million for our school!

WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!!

UAB Women's Basketall Coach Audra Smith, along with two of her players, presented HES with a framed, autographed picture of her team in honor of our winning the Books for Baskets competition. Ms. O'Brien and Paige (one of the student participants) accepted the print that states, "Readers win, and winners read!"
