GRESHAM ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Registration for School Year 2008-09 for Grades K-5

 

New Students:

Welcome to Gresham Elementary School! We believe you and your child are about to become a part of one of the hidden jewels of the Jefferson County Board of Education.   Don't let our temporary facilities fool you. Housed inside you will find a group of teachers who are second to none. In our opinion, they are among the most highly qualified, dedicated, and caring people you will find in the profession.  As for our support staff, they are one of the best around.  We encourage you to spend time with these people as your child grows with us.   Visit and volunteer often throughout the school year.     

The Jefferson County Board of Education requires the following documents in order to receive a registration packet and have your child assigned to a class.

1.  Current Alabama immunization form (blue). (Be sure to check the expiration date of the certificate in the top right-hand corner.)

2.  Original, certified birth certificate with the state seal affixed. Kindergarten students must be 5 years old as of 9/1/08.

3.  Social Security card

4.  Custody papers if applicable (We will copy only the part that relates to the school's involvement with visitation/parental access.)

5.  Copy of parents' driver’s license

6.  PROOFS OF RESIDENCE - Three forms required.  The first is the original lease or deed/mortgage to your home.  We will copy the lease or deed pages with your name and the address of the property.  We also require the current month's Alabama Power bill and another utility bill with YOUR name and address listed. (If  your lease holder pays a utility bill, this will count as one of the two utility bills required.) 

If you or your child lives in a household owned or leased by someone other than you (the parent), we require a "Second Party Residence Verification".  The head of that household must complete a set of forms and furnish the same information required above.  Forms are available through our office, but the procedure must be finalized with our Board of Education.  You will need to call 379-2165 and make an appointment with Mr. Bruce Capps at the Jefferson County Board of Education, Student Services Department. 

7.  Copy of your child's report card from the last school attended.

 

CLASSROOM REQUESTS

Thank you for understanding that we do not accept requests for a specific teacher. We do, however, welcome any information about your child that will help us make his or her transition into the next school year an easier one.
