Counselor's Notes
Our fifth grade will take the Alabama Direct Assessment of Writing Test on Tuesday, February 26.
The fifth graders have been learning and practicing writing skills since the beginning of school. The
test is also given in the seventh grade and the tenth grade.

Grades three through five have been busy learning testing skills in preparation for the Alabama Reading
and Math and the Stanford Achievement Test. These tests will be given March 31st - April 11th. The
testing skills the students learn not only help them on standardized tests, but also on the classroom test
most of them take on a weekly basis. As the students have heard me say, "testing is a fact of life" and
the skills they learn today will be useful to them for years to come.

The kindergarten and first grade classes continue to enjoy and learn from the "Froggy and Friends" social
skills program. Our second grade has started a new series of lessons titled "The Name Game". This
program helps students learn to distinguish appropriate behavior from inappropriate behavior.
