SCHOOL INFORMATION PAGE Visitors: For the safety of our students, faculty and staff, all individuals coming to the school for a conference or other business should report to the main office for permission to visit. Only visitors who have been approved to enter other parts of the building will be issued a visitors' badge which must be worn at all times while in the building. No person may visit students in any part of the school campus without administrative approval. No student visitors are allowed without approval of the principal.
Tardy Policy: Attendance is checked daily in each class. Students should be in class before the tardy bell rings. Students are expected to report on time to all classes, group meetings, and assemblies. Teachers will record those who are tardy to any regularly scheduled activity. An accumulation of tardies will result in disciplinary action following the guidelines outlined in the Jefferson County Code of Student Conduct.
Grades: The Jefferson County Board of Education has established a policy of letter grades for reflecting achievement 90-100% A Excellent 80-89% B Good 70-79% C Average 60-69% D Poor Below 60% F Failure All incomplete (I) grades must be removed within an established time frame. Students who are a part of the ELL (English Language Learners) program may be graded on a non-traditional scale. These grades are marked as G-Good, S-Satisfactory, N-Needs Improvement, and U-Unsatisfactory. A grade of FA (failure due to attendance) is assigned when students have excessive absences (18 total). Students are not allowed more then eighteen absences-not counting verified doctor's excuses, required court appearances, field trips, and suspensions. Clubs, Academic Teams, and Honor Societies: Athletic Teams:
Fees: The Board of Education has authorized the collection of fees for designated elective classes. All fees for such electives should be paid as soon as possible to allow the teacher to purchase necessary supplies to help in meeting the objectives of the class. The Jefferson County Board of Education adheres to all State Laws regarding the collection of school fees.
Payment schedules may be arranged to pay school fees and other items. Any questions about fees and/or payment or fees should be directed to the financial secretary.
Inclement Weather: In case of inclement weather, please listen to local radio and television stations for school information. If school must be dismissed early due to bad weather, regular bus routes will be followed unless the media gives other information.
Personal Deliveries: Gifts to students such as balloons, candy, flowers, etc. cannot be delivered to the student at school. Any personal gifts arriving at the school will be returned with the deliverer.
Internet Use: a) Sending, displaying, or downloading offensive, profane, or prurient messages or pictures b) Using obscene language c) Harassing, insulting, or attacking others d) Damaging computers, computer systems, or computer network (this includes changing workstation and printer configurations, and erasing or reattribution of files) e) Violating copyright laws; f) Using another user's password; g) Trespassing in another user's "files," folders, or work; h) Intentionally wasting limited resources; i) Using the network for commercial or political purposes; j) Revealing personal information (i.e., photographs, addresses, phone numbers); k) Disrupting the use of network by other users; l) Uploading or creating computer viruses.
