Students learning in the Math Lab…

Math Lab

 

Mrs. Johnson is in charge of the math lab at Erwin Elementary School. In the math lab every student benefits from this new addition to the school. Classes attend the math lab once a week for 30 minutes. In the math lab, there is an amazing new system called Classroom Performance System (CPS). Class lessons are projected onto a large screen where students have the opportunity to enter their solutions via hand held remotes. Students love the remotes and Mrs. Johnson says that the remotes helps get the kids more involved.

 

Kim Johnson attended The University of Montevallo, where she received her undergraduate degree in elementary education, she also attended The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), and received her master’s degree in educational leadership. Mrs. Johnson has been teaching for six years. She taught her first two years at Erwin High School, and the other four years at Erwin Elementary School. Mrs. Johnson was recently married on June 4, 2005 to Eric Johnson, who is in the Military and has a step daughter, Briana Johnson, who is nine years of age.
